Huddersfield battered this lot. Anything other than a comfortable win isn't good enough.

Drop Dele into midfield alongside Winks and start Lamela in the 3 behind Kane. Full backs will depend on what the plan is for City.
Football doesn't work like that. Didn't Stoke beat Arsenal?

Agree that Dembele needs a midweek rest to prepare for City and I think this would be a great game to get Lamela his first start...

XI vs. Brighton

Lloris
Trippier Dier Foyth Davies
Winks Sissoko
Lamela Alli Son
Kane

This seems like the ideal game to give Lamela his first start. Also, a good opportunity to experiment with a 433.

Lloris
Aurier Dier Verts Rose
Eriksen Winks Alli
Lamela Harry Son

I'm going to go out on a limb, guessing that Dembele can't do two 90 min games in 7 days anymore. Hence, might be a good idea to give Alli a run in the midfield. Each time he's played deeper this season (2 or 3 times?), he's looked a lot more comfortable. We forget that he's actually a really solid midfielder, as he's been playing so far upfield for nearly two seasons now. But I think he'd be quite effective in a midfield three. What I also like about this lineup, is that it's very positive. Lots of progressive types in there to put Brighton under constant pressure.

I think we'll need that pace from the RB and LB more against City than Brighton.

Depends if we're gonna be defending deep, if we are can start with Trippier and Davies/Rose the same way we played against Real and gave them the ball, on the counter Trippier was finding a lot of space to play dangerous balls and put in crosses for the forwards. In fact I think it's viral to play Tripps because he's key to our countering game.

Fair point, but against Walker's pace we will need Rose because Davies would get burned every time even over a short distance. I'm not sure about City's LWB, I think Delph is playing there but I don't know how pacey he is.

Yup was thinking about this for city game. The more corners we can get the better. Aurier/Rose stand more chance of that than Trippier/Davies

Wouldn't have Sissoko anywhere near City, unless we're a couple up and there's a few minutes left on the clock. It's clear they'll dominate possession so when we counter we'll need to be to technically decent to exploit those opportunities. I wouldn't describe Sissoko as technically decent

This is exactly the type of march Sissoko should start and probably will, he will win the 2nd balls, press high, try to disrupt their passing game and allow us to counter quick, ita the reason why Poch played him against Real so I wouldn't be surprised to see him start for those reasons.

Yeah and their fans seemed to take the same philosophical view too.

If we don't beat Brighton, I'm not going to think "ah well, that's how it goes sometimes"

It would be a big fuck up, simple as that. You think City/United/Chelsea would take that view? We've got to think ruthless now. These are games we should be winning easily.

No chance Lamela starts, he's still miles off full match fitness. Maybe 30 minutes tomorrow but Poch doesn't make subs after an hour generally.

Hes not going to be rushed back.
