The only games Rose and Aurier are fit for right now in my opinion are the ones that require Trips and Davies to be rested.

If Aurier meets his potential and Rose gets back to his best, I can see them winning those spots, but as it stands, anyone picking them for this game is doing so with very rose tinted glasses.

Please tell me that pun was intentional .

To beat them would be pretty epic. However if we get totally outplayed and well beat. It may be the one time my love of football overrides my love of spurs. And we just have to admit that no matter how much they’ve spent we are witnessing something very special in the history of football.

Seems to me only 1 position is really in doubt - whether to play Sissoko or Winks. I expect Sissoko will start.

I think we will be in some variation of a 433, and we will be playing deeper, looking to hit City on counter attacks.

So:

GK: Lloris

CBs: Dier, Vertonghen

FBs/WBs: Trippier and Davies.
I know people want Rose and/or Aurier to counter the speed on the flanks, but we know Poch likes to rotate the FBs, and I think we will be sitting deeper - which also negates some of City's pace up front.

DM - Dembele - really the only option.

CMs - Eriksen, Sissoko
Sissoko does not do many things, but he is strong, and he is reasonably fast. I think we need both of those attributes in this match. Eriksen is still the primary play-maker - and will look to sit deeper to get the ball - but Sissoko will be the primary outlet to run the break on our right side - away from Walker...

AMs: Dele, Son
Son is undroppable, and Poch will bring Dele straight back into the line-up for the match - I expect Son to stay wide on the left side - keeping Walker honest, Dele wil float a bit more, but play off Kane, to free up the right side for Sissoko to run into.

S: Kane

Nothing against Winks, or his last performance, but I think this match sets up better for strength and speed than for quick passes in the midfield. We are not going to dominate possession. When we played this match in pre-season, City treated it for real, and came out very physical against Spurs - I expect Poch to recall that, and be prepared.

Bench: Vorm, Rose, Aurier, Foyth, Winks, Lamela, Llorente

I could see GKN grabbing a spot here, in place of Foyth, with the expectation that if Dier or Vertonghen had to come out, Davies could do a job back there for one game.

Nah - those Blueshite winning football games financed by oil billions and built on the back of dead Phillipino slaves can go and get fucked imo.

Like David Silva though...

Not even close for me. "The special" in football would be if Tottenham won a major trophy soon. Not that.
That’s something completely different. If they were to beat Bayern’s European record of 19 wins. Not sure how any football puriest could say that wasn’t pretty remarkable.

I've seen you say some pretty crazy things on this site - but this might be the craziest of all.

Its kind of like going to the rich kid's house at Christmas and seeing all the presents under the tree, and then thinking: "Wow, he must have been really good this year to deserve all those presents! Bravo, rich kid, Bravo!"

I'm not saying you aren't entitled to your view. I just don't share it at all. (y)

I don’t think this is just about money. United have spent exactly the same and are mikes behind.

Im not saying we will win but they arent THAT good. The derby last weekend was played with spirit but not that much quality. All three goals were off terrible defending.

No way is it even close to special, they’ve bought the fucking league.

If they weren’t top after the money they’ve thrown at it, Guardiola wouldn’t be in a job.

Leicester was a special story, not these financial doping cretins.

They have dropped 2 points all season , that too after going down to 10 men. To say they are not that good is totally wrong. Having said that, IMO, we are the only team in PL, best equipped to beat them.

Thinking purely about probabilities, they are probably due a loss soon. Last PL loss was round 30 last season.

I’ve kind of thought that. Based on fact that they haven’t got terrifying players like messi neymar etc. I’d say their players are next level down. Which in some ways does actually make what pep is doing special. If they’d spent PSG type money they I think you can say they’ve bought the league. But for me it has a little more substance than PSG.

they really only strengthened at FB over the summer, otherwise largely the same team. Silva/DeBruyne is probably the best midfield combo in the prem, and they have had a year under Pep. But they arent unbeatable.

Yeah it’s certainly tailed off a bit. Although outplayed United, it was 2 fortunate goals. And 3 previous were 2-1 against bottom half in 80th minute. Swansea I’ll ignore even though we couldn’t score against them;)
