I wouldn't start Kane.

He looked ragged at the World Cup, had no proper pre season and was well off the pace today.

I think it's better to look after his fitness. A week of training, half an hour against Fulham. Another week of training, start at Man Utd.

In addition if we are keeping Llorente we should give him some confidence. What does it say to him that Kane at such a low standard still starts? What would happen if not managing Kane's fitness causes a long term injury?

I'd rather play him against Fulham for 60 mins, try and win the game early. Maybe rest him for OT, and hope Lamela's back to play the false 9 role he did so well last season.

Lloris
Sanchez Toby Verts
Trippier ------------------- Davies
Winks
Eriksen ------- Alli
Moura --- Kane
Vorm, Dier, Walker-Peters, Dembele, Onomah, Lamela, Llorente

Loving the optimism that Winks will be available but I highly doubt it... :(

Vorm, Walker-Peters, Rose, Sanchez, Dier, Sissoko, Kane

You would genuinely play this team? Really? Wow that's crazy. Sorry but 3 points are 3 points, you don't go playing someone like Amos in such a game when Dier is able to make your bench, the same applies to Kane and to a certain degree Davinson, even though I'll give you some leeway putting Alderweireld in instead

I don't really get that - Fulham at Wembley should be easier than Man Utd at Old Trafford.

Fulham got beat today by Palace on their own turf - we should have enough to beat them without Kane.

Lucas has to start every game that Son misses from now. It is vital to us to get him finding form and rhythm within this first team. Starting him, then benching him next game is short term thinking and is a massive reason why signings sometimes don't work out. Players need a bit of patience shown in them.

Kane will get fitter with games, there's no other better way.

Would love to see this:

Lloris

Trippier
Sanchez
Vertonghen
Davies

Dier
Eriksen
Dele

Lamela
Kane
Lucas

I'd wrap Dembele up in cotton wool for the big ones, like United away the week after.

I know this won’t happen, but I can’t stand out midfield and I would rather put the kids in the deepend then watch Sissoko and Dier attempt to play football.

I don’t think there is an argument that Skipp and Amos have more on ball ability than both of the senior players and in midfield, you need to have courage and ability on the ball.

Again, I know this is BS and won’t happen. But Winks and Josh cannot come back soon enough.

The thought of our CM positions being manned by

Sissoko
Dier
Winks
Josh
Wanyama

Is so shortsighted and will bite us in the butt unless Winks and Josh really take advantage of the opportunity, which I think they can and could be a revelation.

Need to see who’s fit before figuring out the team. Dier and Sissoko in a middle two does worry me.

He did. Moved the ball well.
In the same way that it’s fashionable to criticise Dele for any misplaced pass, even if he makes 10 good passes, it’s fashionable to say Dier can’t play midfield even on a day when he does it well in both directions.

I can only laugh at the talk about Kane needing a rest already. Jesus christ. He's rested now just needs to get up to speed again like the rest of them. He played well today but just like everyone else the tempo was slow because it's the first game of the season. He like the others who returned this week were essentially playing their first pre-season game. They all need game time but it wont be long before they're up to speed again because the World Cup wasn't so long ago.

He’s got a massive chance to evolve this year- Dier, I mean- because we’re going to need him more than ever with Victor out for a while and also being out of sorts at the end of last season. Dele sometimes frustrates me, but his stats are exceptional and anyone claiming he shouldn’t be in the team needs to think again. He’s so dangerous arriving late in the box, and he looked very good today

Kane was leggy at the World Cup. He rushed back from injury last season and wasn't so sharp. It's a testament to his quality he still scored goals but I didn't like the Harry at WC 18 and the end of last season who was loitering about isolated and ineffective. We won at Stamford Bridge without him. We don't have to flog him as much as we do.

You say all he needs now is to be built up. Other players have had more of a pre season. More fitness built up over intensive training practices and non competitive matches. In the PL it will be harder to get up to speed during games because they are competitive and defenders will target him. It's not that basic. If Harry pulled up Poch would have been blamed for taking that risk.
