Rose needs to play against Mane.
Davies was exposed against him last season due to us playing a suicidal 4231 up there iirc?

The way Davies is playing I'd start him at the end of a 5.

Rose is on the bench to come in if it's looking hairy for him against Mane/Salah.

I'd play Moura for the counter attack. I wouldn't want to start him so soon, but their pressing game is made for him to exploit.

Same tactics as we played when we beat them earlier in the season. Counter attack all the way.

Who would you play them instead of, in that formation away to Liverpool?
Assuming Aurier is not fit, I'd keep the exact same team as tonight. Liverpool away with their speed would be the worst possible game for Toby to return after a high grade hamstring tear. While Wanyama has looked well off the pace all season, both before and after his injury. Again, after such a long layoff Liverpool away would be the worst game for him to come back while he's out of touch.

You'd play 4231?

Can Dembele play to the same standard again with a quickish turn around? If he can he's a shoe in.

Dele and Dier will start, you can be sure of it, Toby won't, he'll play against Newport - guaranteed.

We must go there to contain and counter, imperative. On that basis:

Lloris

Dier
Sanchez
Vertonghen

Trippier
Wanyama
Dembele
Davies

Eriksen

Kane
Son

I'd keep Dele in reserve for this one, as we need Son's pace for the counter. We need a strong and robust defensive set up. Anfield is a cauldron and and that solid core could allow us to a execute a counter attacking game plan.

As I said, I'd go with the exact same team as tonight.

It would be madness to start Toby in this game given the nature of his injury and Wanyama has been well off the pace. They both should start against Newport next Thursday to get their touch back.

Doesn't necessarily mean the same formation.

Anyway, 4231 up there is asking for big trouble and likely getting it.

Take your point about Toby, but would still start him in a 5. Would start vic without any hesitation.

Lets not forget also that Davies had only recently come into the starting line-up when that game came around. He's progressed a lot since then.
