In terms off defensive/attacking sensibility?

Depends who our opponents are.

Pretty sure there decent enthusiasm for 433 in the pre-season match threads.

Will have a delve a bit later.
Obviously I meant for the Liverpool game, considering the thread we're in. Tell me your grand plan.

People wanted 352 too. Sometimes giving the people what they want isn't the best option!

Not sure what's up with the snarky tone, mate.

It's odd, quite frankly.

If you don't like 433, I don't really care, dude.

I happen to think it'd be perfect for us and we're ready for it.

By the choices of some others in here, they would appear to think the same.

I've explained how I envisage it functioning for this game on the last page.

If you want to deeper insight I'm happy to give it; just turn off Dick-Mode.

I think Vic struggles with this, he's a hunter IMO. Roams to hunt his prey.
You know, I agree, in general.

But he seems to need a few games to really get going and can get himself into trouble.

I'd just tell him to sit, be strong and feed the two either side of him.

How am I being a dick? I'm asking pretty straightforward questions that you're either not answering or are giving vague answers to.

If anyone else wants us to play 433 then they can answer the question on how they'd like to play it.

This game was massive before but it just got bigger. We need to peg them back.

Like I just said...page 2.

For some strange reason you're trying to make out I'm being evasive, when I've already explained my ideas when challenged directly.

Whatever the formation it's gonna be harder than Watford. The other thing is my wife is life long Liverpool fan and where we differ. If Spurs win I have to get my own Tea !!

Abit early?, but anything to take my mind of that bullshit today.
Funny thing is 3 at the back is what we definitely should be playing against Liverpool (like at Wembley last year).
We didn’t lose that game today because we had 3 at the back. We lost because we played utter shit.
I hope Poch does and I’d 100% keep 3 at the back and if everyone is fit and firing this would be my team...
and in my opinion our best team??

I agree with your back 5 plus Lloris, but cannot see how you can put either Dele or Eriksen on current form, over Moura. I would have both Lamela (if fit) and Moura over both of them.

Play like we have recently and I cant see anything other than a Liverpool win unfortunately regardless of who plays.
Lloris
Trippier Sanchez Vertonghen Rose
Dier Dembele
Moura Eriksen Dele
Kane

And if Eriksen plays like a pussy again then he's off.
If Dembele looks like he should be wearing a red shirt after 15min then he's off as well for Winks.
Both were utter shite today.
Cant wait to get Son back and have Wanyama and Lamela available as well.

4-2-3-1 is easily our best set up considering the players we have at our disposal. I don't even see why it's even being debated personally.

Hugo

Trips Toby Jan Davies

Dembele Winks

Moura Eriksen Dele

Kane

There are positions in there where I feel it makes little difference who plays as long as we use that system. Dier/ Vic in for Dembel/Winks or Son/Lamela in for Eriksen/Dele for example. The key is the formation far more than who is asked to play the roles.

2 up top pushes Eriksen, Dele and Kane deeper and just isn't working, as their defensive game in that area just isn't strong enough. The only time we should ever play 5 at the back is if the game plan is to sit deep and counter but even then it should be 5-2-3/5-2-2-1. I never want to see us play 5-3-2 again especially when the three in the middle contains Eriksen and Dele. It totally negates their natural games and stops them affecting the game where they are at their most dangerous., ie in and around the opponents box.

it doesnt matter who we have, if they dont press as a team together, unlike the ones and twos v watford. Keown always talked about the "leveller" , they need to go out there and let liverpool know they want it in the first few mins. body fat/fitness check, communication check, positioning needs work, sometimes spurs were all over the place defensively, set pieces defending definitely needs work.
Lots of work work work. Thats what Im looking for in the liverpool game, not whos playing over someone else.

The first 10 minutes are crucially important for setting the tone in this one. We need to really be at it from the off.

Disagree. Against Liverpool we must play 3 at the back. Trippier and Rose/Davies will not cope in a flat back four against Liverpool. We’ve seen it to many times in the past. Yesterday didn’t work because you cannot play Dembele on his own in midfield. That decision was ludicrous. Eriksen and Dele then have to drop back in to help. You play Dier, Winks or Wanyama in with Dembele with Eriksen and Dele off Kane. It’s worked brilliantly in the past.
We have to be extra solid against the best teams. Play four at the back against the weaker teams. If we go with a flat back four against Liverpool I cannot see anything other than a defeat.

It's very hard to work out what our best formation is at the moment but I'll take a stab at one for the Liverpool game.

LLoris
Trippier Alder Vert KWP
Dier Dembele
Moura Lamela Dele
Kane

I want KWP in because last season the 3 games that Salah struggled in if I recall was against us at home which Aurier was lb, Swansea with Kyle Naughton at lb and United which was Young at lb, all right footed left backs. I'm also dropping Eriksen as he hasn't done it for me this season so far and I think Lamela is a big game player with his ability to press.

If Rose is fit enough I'd be tempted to play him. But he's sooo rusty.

Dembele, Wanyama, Lamela and Son on the bench.
