I think this will be the team that starts. Maybe dembele for winks. I do however think llorente should start. United are pretty strong at the back and llorentes size and psysicality is probably needed.

Like west ham, they will sit deep in defense and crosses are a good option. Looked light last 15 min against west ham without the big man in the box
I actually thought Llorente's hold up play was pretty poor against West Ham, he did most of his good play first time (although a lot of that was loose) and when he did try to hold it he lost possession, against a solid Man Utd backline I think he may get swamped, and would rather go for a fluid front three of Son, Alli and Eriksen they all have enough intelligence to slot in defensively wherever they are on the pitch and can break when needed.

True and I agree. I was mainly talking about him as an option for crossing. He did look quite leggy after the first half so dont think he will start

People complain when we are called the Harry Kane team but then think we are going to get turned over without him.

Have some faith in our other players, we aren't a one man team, Kane was injured for a significant period of time last season and he was out for the City game that we comfortably won.

Shit news and shit timing but this is why we signed Llorente, right? So that when Kane can’t play we have a proven premier league goal scorer with pedigree at the highest level to come in. Let’s see what he’s all about.

I would definitely play Dembele from the start now, controlling the middle is going to be far more imperative without our most lethal attacker.

Lloris
Alderweireld Sanchez Vertonghen
Aurier _____________________ Davies
Dele Winks Dembele
Eriksen
Llorente

Vorm Trippier Rose Dier Sissoko Lamela* Son
* Edwards or Bennett’s if Lamela is unavailable (yes I’m aware it’ll probably be Nkoudo)

I don't think anybody is lacking faith in the team. I think there is a sense of realistic worry that the best goalscorer is out for a PL match that is really important.

Remember the city game last year when Kane was injured? What happened then when everyone thought they'd easily sweep us aside.

Believe.

True but we suffered a slump after that. No coincidence that our worst period of form last season was during Kane's autumn injury.

Having said that he was also injured later in the season and we coped without him then.

Obviously a big blow to go into this game without our best player, but it's a great opportunity for us to prove we aren't 'The Harry Kane Team'.

I'd go:

Lloris

Toby Sanchez Vertonghen

Aurier Dier Winks Rose

Eriksen Alli

Son
If for whatever reason that isn't working then throw on Trippier and Llorente and just get as much ball into their box as possible.

Like that team but want dembele in there somewhere

What if he got the strain in the 70th minute?

But he didn't.

My point is that the 80th minute is perfectly acceptable to take him off when we're winning 4-1.

Just think Poch should've been way more careful, he looked completely knackered around 70 minutes.

Tbf last Autumn we were crap a lot of the time with Kane in the side as well. Worst possible time for him to be out now though, he's definitely not making the Madrid game either.

Llorente being subbed off last night was possibly a clue, I suspect they're not 100% sure about Kane's fitness.
You called it yesterday and got a "disagree" vote...

I think the formation should be how we played against the Pool, a 3-1-4-2, with Winks/Dier in behind whoever we play in the two in midfield. Last week, it was Eriksen and Alli who annihilated Liverpool's dodgy defence but we may have to play a more defensive pairing against Utd. This may mean Winks has to be dropped for Dier and/or Sissoko has to be played because of his physicality but he played a full match midweek so that's unlikely.

Also, Son and Llorente were both subbed off against Wafer Thin Ham so they will most likely be the striking partnership...

Tbh, these days, it's not easy to guess Poch's team, especially with a Real visit coming up.

Whatever the team, we can do it! COYS!!

He did well when he had options to lay it off to. Our frontline and backline completely split against Spam so it was never really going to work

think you have to have Son in there.

Otherwise there is no-one who directly scares the backline. i.e. llorente isn't going to run at players like Kane does. Dele can but he's not an outlet in the same way....so when Kane is out Son has to come in. how that reshuffle happens depend on tactics.

given it's mourinho I go for power over guile so

lloris
sanchez verts toby (any order)
Serge Davies (trips)
Dier Demb/Ali
Son Erik
LLorentay

At the same time happy to sacrifice Dier for Winks....but I want Dele bombing through the midfield as a direct runner
