Not sure if Dier is available for this match would be good if he could get 60 minutes under his belt for the Chelsea game and be able to rest Sissoko/winks or both

Last update from the club on 16 Dec:
“it is expected he will return to training with the squad in January.”

I wonder if Parrott might make the bench, wasn't it mentioned by Poch that he'd joined in first team training a few weeks ago?
Seems likely as the timing of him being awarded a squad number may point towards taking another step towards a debut. Mick McCarthy mentioned earlier today he was keeping an eye on him so he’ll be a full international by 18.

Gazzaniga - KWP, Foyth, Sanchez, Davies - Skipp, Dele - Lucas, Son, Lamela (GKN) - Llorente

Bench: Couple of youths and Eriksen + Kane for emergency. Especially Winks and Sissoko needs to be rested as we have absolutely no alternatives to them atm.

My girlfriend had her appendix removed on the same day as Eric Dier. She is looking to resume training on Monday (albeit in the women’s league) so you’d say that Dier is probably in the same boat if not a little further forward given his existing fitness.

Is Janssen eligible to play in this one?

I assume there is insufficient time to recall Onomah or CCV - this was something Harry did sometimes, recall youngsters to play in the first round of the Cup, then loan them out again.

Janssen is eligible, but has been out with a foot injury he picked up on loan since last season. There’s talk he might make an appearance in our PL2 match against Liverpool on Monday but I doubt they’d risk him in a cup game just yet.

I have a feeling Vorm might play in this one as Gazza will probably play against Chelsea next week. That said, I am hoping for the following team tomorrow:

--------------------Gazza----------------

KWP----Sanchez---Foyth---Aurier

--------------Skipp--Sissoko--------

--Lucas----------Alli------Lamela--

-------------------Llorente-----------

If Dier is fit, he can play in place of Sissoko.

I think Gazza is a must, huge game against Chelsea, and he hasn't played in a couple of weeks, so needs prior minutes to be sharp.

A real shame Amos is still injured as would have loved Skipp and Amos to have played this one together. Would have been ideal.

Vertonghen, Dembele, Dier & Lamela back in training but won't be ready for Friday night, as per OS.
Presumably 2 or 3 will be in the squad for the Chelsea first leg.

Sissoko really needs a rest, but a CM of Winks and Skipp looks a bit physically lightweight for a game where the opponents main weapon will be to get stuck into us.

Skipp is good but I don't think we've got much choice but to play one of Winks or Sissoko alongside. We can't have a 1 man midfield.
