I know Poch doesn't like wholesale changes so I am trying to be realistic but I also think we need a rethink of our setup in the absence of Toby and Wanyama and with Dembele unable to play consistently.

Lloris
Trippier-Sanchez-Jan-Davies
Dier-Foyth
Winks
Son-Lamela
Kane

Winks and Lamela I think can combine to cover a lot of what Eriksen brings. Use Foyth and Dier to shift between back 3 and flat 4 depending on situation. Let Foyth gain some physicality while also having quality cover and using some of his dribbling and passing skills.

...we don't need 5 defenders for this one - push Dier forward in a 4-2-3-1...
...Son must start...

Lloris
Trippier Sanchez Verts Rose
Dier Winks
Eriksen Dele Son

Why not go with a 433?

Lloris

Tripps (though i'm concerned Richardilson will tear him a new asshole)
Sanchez
SuperJan
Davies

Alli
Winks
Dembele

Son
Harry
Eriksen

Subs: Llorente, Dier, Rose, Sissoko, Lamela, Edwards

Yeah, I know Alli and Eriksen should be dropped, but we just don't have the depth right now. But Poch can send them a very clear message by subbing their asses out at half time, if they continue to be utter garbage. bringing in Lamela for either one of them that underperforms. I think dropping dier, will serve a point to the rest of the team. no one is above reproach. they could be next.

Alternatively, they could get adventurous and try a 4-4-2:

Lloris

Tripps
Sanchez
SuperJan
Davies

Lamela
Winks
Dembele
Son

Llorente
Kane (playing him more as a number 10)

subs:dier, rose, alli, eriksen, sissoko, Edwards

Something like that could either baffle Watford and give us the element of surprise, or could spectacularly backfire. I just like the idea of trying something a bit different, while at the same time sending a clear message to a few of folks who have been woefully underperforming.

Need to get Dier back in the middle of the park, where he does his best work. How about this team for Watford on Saturday:
(3-4-3)
Lloris
Sanchez Vertongen Davies
Trippier Dier Winks Rose
Lamela Kane Sonny
subs: Vorm Foyth Aurier Dembele Dele Eriksen Llorente

We've a problem in that Kane and Eriksen need a rest and Alli needs dropping. Sissoko should be nowhere near the team and Lamela isn't match fit so won't start despite us needing him to. Trippier usually plays well against them so has to start. Not sure Rose's heart is in it so davies has to start. I can't see him playing Foyth.

This game will be won in the first half an hour. If we get the first goal then we will win the game.

Lloris, Trippier, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Davies ,winks, Dier, Dembele, Son, Kane, Llorente.

4 at the back, diamond in midfield and 2 up front. Go at them hard at the start and hope Llorente pulls his socks up.

No chance of this line up though.

Lamela is nowhere near starting.

Dele and Eriksen won’t get dropped, certainly not both of them.

Amazed at the amount of people who think putting Dier back in midfield is the solution.

No way are Eriksen and Dele getting dropped. I just don’t see it happening

It's getting to the point now that if we persist and they keep churning out performances like that of late it will almost look like bad management. I can understand a couple of games to try and find their form again but even our recent record is showing we're struggling and we need to change things. I think it would be naive to keep putting out Eriksen and Alli when they're both playing so poorly and to each time just hope it starts working. Similar to what feels like a naive approach to playing at Wembley against the bus parkers in that it feels we just go out and try to do the same as we usually do in the hope that it just works. That's at least how it looks.

Everyone is reacting emotionally and not rationally. We play our best team, they can get a rest against APOEL.

Against a good passing team like Watford, it's not a bad shout. We lack someone with defensive instincts in there. I can't help thinking that if Dier were shielding the back four, Mahrez would have run into him before scoring the other night.

Think Eriksen might just need a rest, he can sit this one out assuming Lamela is ready to play 90 mins and we can give edwards a shot v APOEL with the group secured.

Agree in principle but can't see Lamela staring yet - maybe Apoel after a sub appearance against Watford.

Go to a back four to shake things up a bit and move Dier into midfield.

Hugo
Trips, Sanchez, Jan, Davies
Dembele, Dier, Winks
Son, Kane, Dele

Vorm, Aurier, Rose, Foyth, Lamela, Eriksen, Llorente

Let Sissoko have a rest after all his recent efforts ;)

Lamela can't play against APOEL, he's not registered in the CL squad, may as well play him against Watford and Dele or Eriksen can come on for him if he's not ready for a full 90.

This whole drop Dele thing has gotten way out of control now. Has assisted three of our last four goals.

Lamela at his best is the fittest in the squad. He may not be quite there but he is ready to start. He would of started sooner if it was not for his mental game. Give him 65 minutes and be careful of his post game recovery or over training following the match.

What I am trying to do is give Eriksen and Dele some space to play in. But it might be much better to say rest Dele, put Foyth into the back three and Dier alongside Winks

He also assisted west Brom goal the weekend so all in all he is not doing too bad.(y)
And yet after he gave the ball away, Sanchez was bullied, and Lloris completely wrong footed. Any mistake on the halfway line can contribute to a goal, but never be solely responsible.
