Ok I'll bite, what exactly have you seen from him in a Spurs shirt defensively or offensively that leads you to reach this conclusion ?
Oh come on! He has the work rate of a fucking mining bee. He's not one of those lackadaisical honey bees that whisk through the air occasionally looking for nectar. Additionally, he is amazing in arial duals, and he has a good eye for passes (passes mind you, not so much crosses yet). He also gets involved in the thick of the game and is very playable for his team mates throughout the match. The issue with Aurier, is that he is over-comitted. He tries TOO hard. That's a good thing, because it's easier to teach an over-comitted player to reel it in 3%, than to teach a non-at-all-comitted player to increase his efforts 3% (not naming names, but...). Aurier hasn't had a bad season, he has committed a few visible errors in an otherwise good season. I've seen 25 year old PL first timers doing a lot worse. This guy is one to watch for next season, and yes feel free to save those words and throw them back at me in 12 months time.

I agree on his passing not seeing anything else yet but really hoping you are right and he rips it up next season.

Hopefully the 9 day break from matches will help recharge the batteries before the final push. Perhaps it will enable Kane , Dembele and Son to recover their sharpness. 2 seasons ago when we collapsed we were affected by the suspensions of Dele and Dembele. Last season we finished strong and no reason that we shouldn’t repeat that in the 4 games we have left.
Agreed! Nothing else but top 4 to concentrate on so no excuses you play your best 11 every game!
So will be interesting to see what team Poch picks this weekend? We have had a good rest for Kane and Toby so no excuses there. We have no new injuries I am aware of so basically he should play the best team he has. Question is, does he think Dier or Wanyama MF. Aurier or Trippier RB or Sanchez or Toby CB. Son or Lamela, or even Lucas to start?

I think he will go with this

Hugo
Aurier Sanchez Verts Davies
Dier Dembele
Eriksen Dele Son
Kane.

Lloris
Trippier - Alderweireld - Vertonghen - Davies
Dier - Dembele
Moura - Dele - Eriksen
Kane
Vorm, Aurier, Sanchez, Wanyama, Lamela, Son, Llorente

Would be tempted to start Son ahead of Kane in this one, given Harry's recent fitness issues, but he says he is fit and I believe him. He's also our best goal scorer and deserves to continue up top, though I hope Pochettino has stressed to him that he must put in 100% as usual or the team will suffer.

Toby obviously won't start, but he should. He is earning a wage here, and Pochettino needs to be less stubborn and allow him to help us get top four.

Thought Lucas was decent when he came on, and we should start him to make us less predictable. Lamela and Son are good options of the bench when we are winning and losing respectively, but neither is in brilliant form and both should want to knock the door off its hinges.

Yes I like the team and you make good points! Yes maybe this is a game for Lucas to start.
I don’t think Poch is being stubborn with Toby, I actually think it was a serious injury and he was out for a long time and hasn’t been back to full fitness. I think he played a lot better last time he played and I think with the 9 day break also he may well be in contention for a start against Watford.
On Kane I think he will always give a 100% but unfortunately sharpness and confidence in front of goal doesn’t come straight back when you have been injured. However I would add to that on he’s defense our whole team has not been playing well either, and he hasn’t been getting the best of service so this has limited he’s chances which had hampered him getting that sharpness and confidence in front of goal back! He is still our best striker in the team at the moment and if fully fit it must play, we only have four games left and no other distractions so we must play our best 11 every game.
The only thing I would say to Poch is, if things are not working, make changes early. You have son and Lamela on your team bench for example- they can be great impact players, but don’t bring them on with 15 mins to play. If we have a luck luster first half give them 10 mins to put it right or change formation and if it ain’t working make the changes immediately!
We have the skill to beat Watford but we must show the passion and strength this week we haven’t been showing recently. If we do, simple, we win!

If Rose is fit, I'd like to see Rose & Aurier both get the start. I'd like to see them both start the remaining 4 matches. We need to see what we have at fullback going into next year and giving them a run of games is the only way to do that.

Why so many favouring Aurier? Trips is much more reliable. He has only had one difficult game all season- v Man City away where he was left against someone incredibly fast with no cover.

Aurier does brilliant and awful things in most games- no good for a full back. "Erratic" and "full back" don't go together. Understand from PSG watchers he has always been like that. I haven't given up hope though- a proper pre-season with Poch, it is possible we could see a big improvement on the errors.

Dier at CB
Rose over Davies
Wanyama in CM
Moura starting
I see. Reasoning mainly is that form has stuttered to say the least since we beat Chelsea. I feel that a lack of energy has been the main cause. Wanyama, Aurier and Rose being more of this than Dier, Trippier and Davies respectively.

I’m also a big advocate for 433 with the more mobile, fluid Dele/ Eriksen pairing with protection from a DM, and while Dier could perform that pure anchor role manfully, I think Wanyama is more likely to identify a hole ahead of him on those occasions that the two in front of him drift out wide, which will happen. Additionally, Sanchez has dipped (understandably for a defender his age), Toby is off, and Dier is a good physical presence to complement Vertonghen’s more cerebral approach.

Lastly, we’ve signed Moura, I’ve left a slot open in attack with how I’ve moved Dele and Eriksen, and with Son on the other side I think someone who’ll stay wide will be a threat to their defence.
