Poch won't do it but I'd like to see Trippier played again with a view toward Aurier starting in the league next weekend. On form Serge deserves to be first choice at the moment.

Other than that I think Kane, Son, Eriksen, and Dembele need a rest and I'd look to give Sanchez, Wanyama, Winks, Lamela, and Dele runouts to build their fitness and sharpness, then sub Lamela off around the hour mark to keep him fresh for Huddersfield.

So for me it'd look like this:

Gazza
Trippier Sanchez Vertonghen Davies
Wanyama Winks
Lucas Lamela Dele
Llorente

to be honest if we was to play KWP at Right back, we then have to decide who we want to play v Barca. so KWP v Watford, Trippier v Huddersfield, and Aurier v Barca

It didn't reek of fatigue but this is still a great opportunity to rest him and play Son through the middle.

to be honest with the WC quickly followed by the Asia Games, I'd be tempted to rest Son for this.

As others have said it's the easiest comp to win, providing City, Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool don't get to the latter stages. if any of those teams reach the semi's they will play a strong line up if facing another top 6 team.

Kane, Eriksen, Son and Dembele absolutely must be rested. I don't even want them on the bench for this.

3 games in a week. Watford, Huddersfield and Barcelona.
Obviously want to win every game, but Watford is the game to completely rotate and utilise the squad.
Watford will probably do the same.
Still a good enough team to win...

Looks good on paper but half of the outfield players have barely played a match this season so i think we'd very likely lose with that team at the moment.

That's why I disagree that it's the easy cup to win. It used to be when the top teams didn't take it so seriously, but now with more top sides than there are trophies, everyone does. It's also a short competition that the top sides join late, so the chances of those teams slipping up are less, unlike the FA Cup for instance.

The question for me is whether we need to try and play ourselves into form or give some of the squad/fringe players minutes so they've had some game time should we need to call on them down the line.

Gazzaniga

Toby Sanchez Foyth

KWP Winks Wanyama Rose

Lamela Dele

Llorente

Subs : GK, Aurier, Davies, Skipp, Amos, Eriksen, Lucas

We need to completely rest a few - Kane, Dembele, Vertonghen and Son - while getting some sort of game time for the younger players. It won’t be too long before KWP and Foyth get disillusioned, if they aren’t already

So while I’d love to win the Carabao Cup, this is a clear 4th priority for us and perhaps one of the few chances to get these players game time. And I’m fairly sure Watford will make a raft of changes so that team should have enough to get through

Stupid question...

But when is the match? Out of touch with anything but work these days.
