Looking at their injuries and who they've generally started with this season, i'd say the Dortmund team would be something like;
Burki
Pisczeck Papastathopoulos Toprak Zagadou
Sahin Dahoud
Pulisic Castro Philipp
Aubameyang

The three most likely subs being; Gotze, Yarmalenko and Kagawa
Gotze might start ahead of Dahoud, with Castro moving into CM, however his fitness still seems to be an issue.
What's happened to Weigl? Is he injured?

I was going to post this team. Sonny to come on with 20-130 minutes left.

20-130 minutes left? Thats a hell of a lot of injury time!

Aurier is the only absolute must for me. Any combination of the rest I have a lot of faith in, but Trippier I can see being given a torrid time.

Son for Dele, Dembele for Sissoko and Aurier for Trippier would be my changes, but it wouldn't surprise me if he just swapped Dembele for Dele and pushed Sissoko further forward

Lloris

Sanchez Toby Verts

Aurier Dier Dembele Davies

Eriksen Son

Kane

Subs: Vorm, Foyth, Winks, Sissoko, Llorente, Trippier, Someone-else
I'd consider picking Winks to try and get us a bit more possession, but I think Dembele's hustle will be important and Winks isn't really attacking enough to play instead of Son.

Arguably we could go without Dier, but I think we should start with him and Dembele, get a foothold in the game and then bring on Winks if we need a bit more passing ability in the second half.

Dele is effectively a second/shadow striker these days anyway, particularly in the 3-4-3/3-3-3-1/whatever the fuck you want to call the back 3 formation. I don't think much would fundamentally changed if you brought another striker, like Llorente, in for Dele. In that situation I don't think Kane would have to 'drop back' at all. He naturally likes to drop deep to show for the ball anyway.

I'm just not so sure about their so called injuries. I seem to recall last time we played them at home there were a couple of key players who were supposedly out due to injuries but made remarkable recoveries to play.

For me this is a key game and one we need to win. We have to put out our strongest team and it's great that our squad has been strengthened with the signings of Sanches, Aurier and Llorente so our bench will be strong as well.

I'd mirror the same formation we had Saturday at Everton with a bit of rotation. Kane up top with a diamond right behind and defensive bucket around the attackers. Dembele at the base of the diamond and Eriksen playing at the top. Pushing Dembele up would really help our press and possession in key areas. We don't have to worry as much about being countered now with Sanchez essentially playing a sweeper and Toby/Verts dropping back when we lose the ball.

----------------------- Lloris----------------------

----------Toby-----Sanchez------Verts-------

-------------------------Dier-----------------------
Aurier------------------------------------Davies
---------------------Dembele---------------------
----------Sissoko-------------Son---------------
----------------------Eriksen----------------------
-----------------------Kane------------------------

Hope not. You don't drop your best player.

Llorente to make a debut at some point during the game though.
I suspect he means drop back into Dele's shadow striker/#9.5 role not drop back to the bench with Llorente leading the line. Not sure how much Llorente can play in a week but with our high frequency of matches rotation of Llorente/Kane/Son will be crucial.

Dortmund have a very good defense and have not yet conceded in Bundesliga this season so whatever formation we take up will likely be to pull them out of their element. Not sure Llorente will do that but also hard to play Kane Wednesday and Swansea at the weekend.

Ah, the old 12 player trick. No wonder we won on Saturday!

Proofreading is not my friend lol. I had a 2nd thought about who plays at the top of the diamond with Alli out and then didn't go back and revise. Can't win them all!

Davies will be fine this match. Pulisic is fast but he's not blazing. Philipp lacks speed. Neither will remind you of Mane or Bale. Where Davies gets exposed is where teams put balls in behind him for players to run on to. That's where his lack of athleticism really shows up. He's a very solid man defender though. Trippier on the other hand will get exposed vs. Dortmund. Where Phillip & Pulisic really shine is in man on man situations with the ball at their feet. Pulisic especially. Pulisic vs. Trippier man on man is the stuff of nightmares. He'll utterly destroy him. Giving Aurier the start is a must.

It's actually far more complicated than it just being 5m longer.

It's actually 500+ sqm bigger than WHL and, given that the size of the size of the boxes are the same on every pitch, all that space effectively comes between the boxes. It means that there is far more ground to cover when pressing, far more space for the opposition to play and more room in behind when we play a high line. This has a number of effects; first and foremost is physical and mental fatigue, both of which were the main factors in conceding the late goals against Burnley and Chelsea.

There's also, undoubtedly, a mental hurdle for the players at the stadium as well, which is altogether harder to fix than the tactical issues caused by the extra space.
You do know that most EPL pitches where we play away, like Everton on Sunday, are roughly the same dimensions if not the same as Wembley's? Dont buy into the media led public opinion hype and create a problem where there is none.

I just hope we put out our strongest team. Not only will it give us the best chance of getting a positive result, it'll also show that we're going to take the competition seriously this season.
