There’s absolutely no reason not to play strongest team. Rotation wise all that needed a rest had one on Friday bar Son. I think there’s a reasonable chance Dembele and vertoghen will make the bench. Crazy to think though that even if Dier/dembele were fit winks/sissoko would be the preferred choice. Imagine the odds on that at start of season. Saying that if Dembele stays we have excellent depth then at CM with wanyama/Skipp in the wings.

Wonder who will take Moura attacking bench spot. I guess we will probably go with llorente and lamela and probably dembele will take the bench spot. Real shame we have no attacking youth options really knocking on the door.

Dembele and Vertonghen arent ready. Probably will be Vorm/Gazzaniga(depending on if Lloris starts), KWP, Foyth, Aurier, Skipp, Lamela, Llorente

Don't think either Verts or Dembele will be involved.

I'm pretty glad Gazzaniga getting the nod, he's not put a foot wrong and deserves to see the cup through. Even if he was to make a mistake, I wouldn't entertain the "should have started hugo" because he's more than earn't his place.

Gazza
Aurier Sanchez Toby Rose
Sissoko Winks
Son Eriksen Alli
Kane

I'd start Gazza (dont think Poch will). He keeps getting clean sheets, his distribution is fantastic (actually setting up goals), and he doesnt fill me with dread every time he has the ball in his hands or at his feet.

Also think Trippier will start but I'd go Aurier, as we did last time we beat them, for pace.
Rose also for same reason but again wouldn't be surprised to see Davies.
Rest of team picks itself.

What a laughable thing to say - making out he's a better keeper than Lloris.
I like Gazzaniga, he's a decent keeper, has played well - but is a long way from being world class, which is what Lloris has been for some time.
But to judge his distribution on: the lucky break when the ball hit Lucas and fell to Alli's feet like it was almost an assist and the sublime control and vision of Kane for the second, is about as ludicrous as writing Lloris off for a couple of mistakes early in the season.

This place has some funny trends at times: like writing walker off as a liability and then proceeding to call him the best right-back around and lamenting letting him go. The same is currently happening with Trippier - most people in football see him as a stunningly good attacking full-back - here: he can't defend, can't cross, too slow, needs upgrading.

Nothing short of baffling...

On another note, agree with the team selection for this one.

What a strange post.
I never actually said most of what you allude to lol.
Firstly Gazza has set us on our way to goals on more occassions that just the one you refer to and imo if you think Lloris has better distribution then good on ya.
Imo is Gazza a better shot stopper? Probably not but I didnt say he was and I've never questioned Lloris as a shot stopper. He's one of the best going. Thats not my issue with him.
Where did I say Gazza is world class or better than Lloris? Oh I didnt.
But as you brought it up Lloris makes far too many mistakes these days with his distribution and decision making to be considered world class anyway, imo.
And then you went off on a tangent about Trippier and finished by agreeing with my team selection lol.
Nothing short of baffling indeed.
You're almost arguing with yourself.

You alluded to basically everything i said, re: Lloris and Gazzaniga

You're right, he's loosely set us on our way to the two goals i referenced in my post, any other examples that i've missed? Are you forgetting him punting it out of play a few times that night also?

No-one mentioned shot-stopping...?

You alluded to it heavily in your post?

We definitely disagree here...

Did you not understand the reference to the Walker/ Trippier situation?

The team selection sounded about right. Does that negate anything else that was said?!

I quoted your post and put to you why i thought, imo, what you had said was wrong. That's kind of how it works. Hardly arguing with myself, is it?

I wouldn't say laughable. I'd still prefer Hugo out of the two generally, but I don't think the difference between them based on this season is "laughable". I'd say it's rather close.
