Not sure what all this stuff is a bit Aurier playing bad is about, he has not made any major clangers this season like Trippier has and his attacking threat and linking with Sissoko works really well down the right. Is the Aurier abuse just another load of rubbish because he made some mistakes last year in his first season and obviously that means he cannot improve and play well ever again.
I'm surprised Sissoko's turnaround hasn't taught people to rethink about the abuse towards players. All I see is constant nonsense. Trippier was decent after Walker left and in the WC. Perhaps the Summer has gone to his head and he needs a kick up the backside? Who knows! Aurier has improved this season, as is expected under Poch and a with full pre-season under his belt.

Originally wanted 3 at the back, but with Rose now out, I’d go...

Hope Poch whispers some sweet words in Sancho's ears after the match :p

Hope we go all out for Sancho at some point, potential super star.
problem that i see is that City have a, reported, 50% resale clause so that really creates a disincentive for Dortmund to sell him

it was just bad timing.

when the walker deal was going through we wanted sancho but at the time he was still fairly content at city, it was only when he wasn't named in the squad for the us tour that he went awol and forced a move away, had the walker move been a few days later then we'd have had a much better chance at working sancho into the deal.
it also seems as if there was something a little funny going on - see this portion of a longer post from @Hercules :
"And from many of us know, reasons which cannot be aired, he was as good as ours last summer, and politically his team took him to Germany with a view to return."
probably won't know the answer to this but what a shame, what a sliding doors moment for us!

I'd start Jan at LB. Has a decent delivery on him also when going forward. His delivery into Llorente (if he starts) could be a difference maker.

No trippier. Until Aurier has a mare on Wednesday and then people want trippier back.

We need to be as strong at the back as possible. If Dele and Kane are back for the second leg then we have a chance to progress so need to keep it tight tomorrow.

Lloris - Trippier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen - Dier, Winks - Sissoko, Eriksen, Son - Llorente

Subs: Gazzaniga, Aurier, Foyth, Wanyama, KWP/ Rose, Lucas, Lamela

As Verts loves a good cross I would use Llorente to place the balls on him. Thats mainly though to have some tricky offensive players on the bench who can caus problems to the tired legs. Maybe Aurier for Tripps but at least Tripps is good for some decent delivery from time to time.

Wouldn't it work better the other way round? :cautious: :finger:

Jan was solid at LB

Could have really done with Rose's tenacity and pace against Sancho :(

Jan clearly the better defender though

Sancho will be on the other side for the majority of the match, tormenting our RB.

Not sure about playing Dier. I know we need to be solid going into a two-legged tie, but he's looked very short of fitness since coming back from his op.

Probably can't go with a back three now that Rose is out.

Lloris
Aurier - Sanchez - Alderweireld - Vertonghen
Sissoko - Winks
Lucas - Eriksen - Son
Llorente

People have their own agenda and often swear black is white or delve into ancient history to support it. Only when it becomes absolutely beyond argument that they're wrong will they relent, or in some cases go into forum hibernation. Sissoko is the obvious example.

Vastly superior is a bit far. Odd Mistake? he's shocking going forward and is a liability at the back in a different way to Trippier.
He’s not shocking going forward and is much less of a liability than Trippier. He’s not constantly out of position, he has pace to keep up with attackers, he can actually tackle and plays was less hospital passes.

How can you say what I said is a bit far and then say that about Aurier?
