Have a funny feeling Dembele won't start on Saturday and will be kept for Wednesday hence getting a bit of a run out this evening, otherwise risking him this evening seems absurd.

Also think Lamela will start against Juventus, hopefully Jan back in.

Expect it will be:

Lloris

Aurier
Dier
Sanchez
Davies

Wanyama
Eriksen

Moura
Dele
Son

Kane

No Dembele for me, bench only.

Picking between Alli-Son-Lamela-Lucas for two spots is getting very difficult, sweet.

Dele’s form recently has actually been really good. Not getting the goals of previous seasons, but his general play is better than it’s ever been right now. Less of the sloppiness, and generally just more involved, better in possession and more creative.

Dele will pretty much always start in key games so may be left out on Saturday. Probably Eriksen and Kane will start with Dele and perhaps Son. I am not sure Dembele wil start; we will probably use Wanyama with Winks as both need game time in order to get back to their best

Could be the perfect game to do a Man City formation wise, thus saving Dembele for Juve.

Aurier Sanchez Dier Davies
Wanyama

Lucas Kane Son

Why Lucas in middle and Eriksen on right?

Surely they should be other way round.
More drive from Lucas in the middle.

Direct.

Watch the Rochdale game again and see where he was most effective.

We rotate very fluidly now, anyway, so Eriksen would naturally drop central to share the duty; but I love what I'm seeing from Lucas charging and jinking in from the middle.

It’s great to have Lucas as an option now, as for so long we’ve lacked attack-minded midfielders that have some form of technical ability. Even just the ability to control the ball tbh. :D

This for me as well.

Save Dembele for Juve, and also, that team is sexy as fuck.

  1. Save Dembele for Juventus
  2. Even if fit, save Vertonghen for Juventus.
  3. Llorente scored a hatrick so deserves to have his bench place back.

As much as I would like to rest players, I don’t think this will be an easy game. Huddersfield pressed extremely well against WBA last week and the Sanchez-Dier partnership still worries me when under pressure. I’d feel safer with Vertonghen playing but also think it’s crucial he is fit for midweek. The front 4 (whoever joins Kane, Eriksen and Alli) will cause them problems though.

Vorm, Trippier, Rose, Vertonghen/ Foyth, Dembele, Moura, Llorente

Would probably rather see Dembele rested or only used for 30 minutes to have him fully fit for Wednesday and I think a 4-1-2-2-1 / 4-1-4-1 at home could trouble Huddersfield and would give us more options in attack.

More realistic is a 4-2-3-1 version with MD though and Sissoko on the bench.

I'd probably drop Dele next to Wanyama and have Son/Eriksen/Moura behind Kane. To have Dembele/Lamela on the bench in that scenario, with the injuries we have shows incredible depth.
