———————Lloris
——Toby — Sanchez— vertonghen
Trippier—-Dier——Dembele——Rose
———eriksen ———dele
——--————Kane

Gives us plenty of firepower from the bench. Possibly a bit defensive but gives midfield plenty of scope to press aggressive and high and the wingbacks scope to push on.

Toby and Rose put themselves in the window for summer.

Big decision for Poch to make. The Kane to 10 switch second half I interpret as admitting he isn't anywhere near fit to lead the line, and just gave him a luxury role to do as he wanted. Will his condition improve drastically in the next few days? Will Poch just play him anyway?

But then Son went up top and bar his effort for the goal just looked lost and did fuck all, and that's two games on the trot in the 9 role that he's done very little.

There's a few other options, Lamela (or Alli) as a false 9, Llorente is there in the shadows..... But Poch will be having headaches this week about this selection I think.
In Kane's absence the best performance we saw in the false 9 was from Lamela second half at Chelsea. Son needs to either play alongside Kane or from wide, he's kinda nullified as a 9. If Kane's not fit enough, I'd play Lamela as a false 9. with Eriksen, Dele, Son behind.

Big choices are Lloris/Vorm, Sanchez/Alderweireld, and Davies/Rose.

No mass clamouring for Moura to start?

That died a quick death :D

How many semi finals is it now since we won one? Eight? Jeez, you'd like to think that run will come to an end at some point.

Why are so many wanting to revert to a back three against a side renown for setting up very defensively? Makes no sense what so ever other than to shoe horn TA back into the side.

Team that won at PL with Sky ratings:

Tottenham: Lloris (7), Trippier (7), Vertonghen (7), Sanchez (9), Davies (7), Dier (7), Dembele (7), Alli (7), Eriksen (9), Son (8), Kane (7).

Subs: Lamela (6), Wanyama (N/A), Sissoko (6).
Will be this again with Vorm in for Hugo IMO.

If we are to go with a back three I'd be tempted to not play both Dier and Dembele, and instead have one of them alongside Eriksen, so we can still get Son in the team. We need some pace against United.

I don't see that happening, can't see us switching to a three.

That's a shocking stat, I wish I could see us winning on Sat but our cup record against United (in recent times at least) is abysmal.

I’m sure the Away game we had a back 3 ( Toby Dier Verts. )

Think Kane was injured

I know Sanchez was dropped / rested for that game, and Dier and Toby were caught out for the late goal, Dier was maybe floating between midfield and defence, if it was a back 3 it didn't work at OT.

IMO, because I don't like the look of Aurier or Trippier against any one of Sanchez, Martial or Rashford. 3 CBs offers a load more cover and also allows the wingbacks to get at Young and Valencia.

We beat them at Wembley playing 4231 and I don't see us changing that.

What we do need to be mindful of though are their swift wing-forwards. Man United like to play the ball into the gaps behind our wing backs and use the pace of Rashford or Martial to exploit these areas on the counter after we have pushed forward.

We could negate this a little with a back 3, but that does remove Son, who I think we need to exploit their equally weak FB's/CB's

Back 3 of Toby, Jan and Sanchez gives us more flexibility, and allows our wing backs to be just that, further up the pitch. The whispers are saying it is Poch’s preference. Will be interesting when the team is announced.
