It’ll never happen but I’d like to see:

Vorm
Toby Sanchez Verts
Dier
Lucas Eriksen Dembele Rose
Alli
Kane

Lucas would be a much better RWB than Son was LWB :)

Vorm

Trippier Toby Vertonghen Rose

Dier Dembele

Eriksen Dele Son

Kane

If rose is not fit

Vorm

Sanchez Toby Jan

Tripps Davies
Dier

Dembele Eriksen

Alli

Son

We are vulnerable to pace and counter attacks when its both Davies and Trippier I think Jose will park the bus and play Martial and Rashford to hit us quick on the attack. So to negate that we should just ensure we are solid if rose is not fit to deal with the pace.

Kane is also clearly not fit if we switch system I don't think son deserves to be dropped we looked better without Kane so sadly its a harsh decision but bench him and bring him on if we need him think we need to protect him from himself.
No way Jose parks at home to us that would just be plain embarrassing and the crowd would not stand for it and he knows it. If Poch has any sence he will drop deeper for this game and hope to get them on the break ourselves. Basically play for a draw.

If we are to go with a back three I'd be tempted to not play both Dier and Dembele, and instead have one of them alongside Eriksen, so we can still get Son in the team. We need some pace against United.

I don't see that happening, can't see us switching to a three.
Didn’t think we got much out of Son’s pace vs Brighton. For me Lamela plays. He will wind them up play hard and also has pace and skill. Same team that beat Chelski

Tobi can do one as far as I’m concerned. Wouldn’t even have him on the bench. He’s dead to me.

We all know he’s gone in the summer so what’s the point. Can’t see Poch starting him.

I swear he does it just to grab attention.

Yes, like i do it everyweek.

Kane looks way off the pace to me, and if he hasn't improved his fitness by the weekend I wouldn't start him as it's affecting our pressing game as a unit.

I mean is it only me that thinks we've looked really lethargic against City and Brighton?

You would think I've selected the kids ffs lol.

It will be a different Manu in terms of application and tactics that we beat at Wembley earlier this year, so I personally would be more comfortable with a back three, especially as we haven't exactly been pulling up roses lately. Kane is clearly not fit so I would not pick him as in my opinion would be eaten alive if he played like he did against Brighton.

It's definitely a problem, he's really struggled to get involved and we even had to drop him back just to have him really see the ball much yesterday. The only reason why I'm trying to not overthink it is because I think Pochettino will select him anyway.

Obviously a fit Kane will always get into the team, but I do like the look of Lamela, Son, Alli, Eriksen all linking up and I would prefer it to the usual setup with an unfit and sluggish Kane. Thing is in what is probably our biggest game of the season yet, Kane will be absolutely itching to play and like said, Poch will find it very hard not to select him. Kane bullied Smalling and Jones last time, if we can get anything like that performance out of him it will be beneficial. We need to get him more involved further up the pitch though, have him holding up play well, being quicker with his distribution of the ball and bringing others into play.

Cynic in me says Poch will find it easier to bench him if he's not up to fitness given the golden boot is irrelevant for this game.

I'm just not sure, I mean, that should be Pochettino's mindset golden boot or not and to be fair to Kane he should and would be more bothered about the chance to get us to a trophy more than the golden boot so you'd think he'd be more eager to play this than a league game.

One game from this season stands out to me and it's not even because of the hattrick, but away at Burnley he looked razor sharp, just his whole movement and such. Would be great to have him close to that.

Why does that matter? He is a world class defender that simply wants to make as much money as possible.

If he plays, our chances of reaching the Fa Cup final increases. That`s a good enough reason to start him.

Even if Rose is fit I think Davies should get the start ahead of him. If this was Danny Rose of early last season then I think he starts no question, but he has definitely not been the same since the injury. Toby should get the start, but can his hamstring handle 2 matches in a week? I agree with many that wanted a back 3 as Mourinho would not expect it at all, and we played very well with the back 3 prior to Toby's injury. Kane's ankle is not 100% but I don't see Poch dropping him. I would almost start Vorm over Lloris as Hugo has struggled a little lately. Lamela should also start ahead of Son.

Why are so many wanting to revert to a back three against a side renown for setting up very defensively? Makes no sense what so ever other than to shoe horn TA back into the side.
Back 3 allows our wing backs to push up and wide and when you have CBs with the passing ability of Toby and the ability on the ball that Verts has, if forces the 'bus' to come out and close down more, opening up a bit of space.

So the BBC have one of their combined XI selectors for this match. One thing that stands out is that compared to us it’s very hard to pick the starting XI for United. Three of Mata, Rashford, Lingard, Martial, Pogba, Sanchez, Lukaku are likely to miss out.

Even at the back for them you’re trying to work out the 2 cb’s from Bailey, Jones, Smalling & Rojo

Our only decision appears to be if 3 at the back does Son miss Out, if back four who out of Son/Lamela misses Out. I think the rest of the team we know based on how Poch rotates

A few weeks ago Harry was the most wanted CF in europe, now we have some on here wanting him dropped.

Yeah lets drop him in a massive showpiece ,a semi final v Man U after all he has done for us over the last 4years...that'll convince him to stay loyal with us when the elite clubs come calling....

Dropped?

It's to do with fitness, if he isn't fit enough he shouldn't start as it comprises the team as a whole.

If he is, obviously he starts, first name on team sheet etc etc
