The system is the system better stay safe with this one..contain and hit

But that’s the problem, until we bring on say Moura and/or Son we can’t ‘hit’ them. Why set up for a tight game and risk getting slaughtered ala City when you can take the game to them from the off and shut up shop later on if needed.

I’d hardly call them wing backs, neither can beat their man and both have one speed - snail pace. Aurier is Aurier - a fruit loop. If we’re not reliant on them for defending and are playing Dier as a DM, then we may as well play Moura and Son instead.

I cant diminish our backs because at times they do great. Davies hss been crap lately but has played some really good games too
Trippier is on and off
Aurier is scary but with 5 backs we shoukd never get him near our own box
We have what we have.
Also its a bugget having to responsible being up and being back.. Still I think we should try and contain United and expand from there.

United is not City snd I think Mourinho will target our high line so better be ready with 3 CB's and less space.

Its an interesting choice between the two and what Poch will actually do.

they'll be happy to let us have the ball. Our high line gives me the willies though, Sanchez can get caught ahead of the ball and sometimes Lloris comes, and sometimes he stays at home...

I really woukd like to see Sanchez in the middle flanked by Jan and Toby...we looked stronger then

Sometimes we hail our backs..but not in lately

Were they not playing better when Sanchez came and we played 5 at the back?

We have played well before with 3 at the back Trippier and Davies as wing backs but as you mentioned earlier Davies has been poor recently and so has Trippier. Utd aren’t City but on paper they still have a frightening attack and extremely quick full backs. Given this is a cup tie they’ll have a different mind set to when we beat them at home... they won’t be setting up to play for a draw. Looking to contain them isn’t necessarily a bad thing but in doing we still need to be a threat on the counter. Not playing any pace leaves us with no quick counter attack. We saw it against City, a couple of times when we had the chance to break and all we did was give the ball straight back to them as no matter how technically gifted Eriksen, Alli and Kane are they’re not going to run away from the Utd players.

I agree but think containing them first and hitting....we are not a disaster on the counter as I think United can be open...as they will attack...a great pass by Eriksen,A Dele move...Kane on form...

Im afraid more of gaps in defence and a back line relying totally on a linesmans flag

Im also suggesting with 5 at the back..we can afford Dembele as DM and Dele as CM...which in itself will.offer some fluidity with strength

And then Eriksen, Lamela (he will add to the MF pressing etc) and Kane

Then Moura,Son and Dier
All insurance on the bench

25c 77f forecast for kick off tomorrow may be a factor. No idea who that may benefit tbh but I’d imagine it will impact pace of the game. If they play at a normal tempo could really open up in 2nd half. I’d suspect it may favour us as we generally out run other teams and we are used to the tiring effect of the Wembley pitch.

I woukdnt count on the Wembley pitch one way or another. I think passion and heart is a much bigger factor. Its the FA Cup semifinal and both teams should be ready.
Its about guts and glory.

Personally I would love to see Moura start this game and hopefully convince Poch to leave him on the pitch for the full match...(by scoring a goal...or two) (y)

From what I've seen of Moura I still think I'd rather see Lamela start ahead of him. I just think Lamela more so knows his role in the team and Moura is obviously talented but I think is yet to find his game to become fully effective in our team. Obviously with more minutes and coaching that will come.

Coming off the bench is a different matter though, would love to see him at least off the bench a lot more.

I like the way Moura plays, he is always looking for opportunity and works in space for a pass etc.
If we have 5 in the back line from the off we don't have room for him to start as Eriksen and Kane must play and Lamela gives us enough in the pressing game

Fluidity will win us the game today. Son, Alli and eriksen behind Kane.

Dembele and dier

Davies and Trippier and Sanchez and Jan.

Goalie I’m not bothered. Either. If it goes to pens I would rather have Vorm in goal, lloris never looks like saving them.

I too would like to see Moura being given starts. However, this is a must win game - lose and the chance for silverware has gone. As you rightly point out we have not been playing to our best lately - do we take a gamble? Who does Moura replace? He is short of game time and may even of match fitness. He has had far less experience playing with the current players and to Poch's style. For me, I would prefer the usual starting 4 of Son, Eriksen, Alli and Kane for this match. Just my view and you may well be right - I am cautious by nature.
