Barkley as he would solve a lot of problems.

Shaw would be interesting for the summer as part of a deal which sees Rose go the other way. The emergence of Davies allows for this, same as last season with Trippier/ Walker, and Shaw has a high ceiling. At 22 Rose was going nowhere fast remember, and they are about as injury prone as each other. We’d spin a profit overall, replacing a player who wants out with a player who will be dedicated to our manager.
Have you read Poch’s comments on Shaw in his book ? Don’t see any way he signs Shaw.

Not in January, but if West Ham go down Lanzini could be interesting.Argentinian relatively young. The interesting thing is most West Ham players under Bilic have got worse. But he has maintained his standards. He May have a much higher ceiling that poch could exploit.Almost a cross between winks/eriksen. But I think he’d be overpriced.Probably better value elsewhere.

Does anyone know who the article in the OP thinks we should sign ? I can’t seem to find it just the intro and then ads.

Personally I’d be happy with Barkley and maybe sessegnon with loan back. Maybe both of the sessegnon brothers actually!

Only movement in January would be Barkley i think. And even then i doubt we would see him in action till April. He will take a while to regain fitness, get used to the training, and make his mark on the Master Poch.
Summer window i think Sessegnon is a must have. He is multi faceted, able to play both back and forward. Poch will turn him into something special.

I understand your point regarding Barkley getting match fit and up to speed with MP's philosophy, and the fact he might not appear until April.

But whilst having a headstart on fitness regime, philosophy etc, by joining up in January as opposed to summer. Surely if a player is indeed not going to feature until April, would we shell out...Let's say £15 million...for a player to be involved for the last 4-6 weeks of the season.

Barkley is free in the summer. As usual, I suppose it depends on how much we need him, and what we consider good value if indeed he is to come in January.

I agree with you as well, but the last 4-6 weeks could be vital. Just a thought.

Ruben Neves (Wolves)

Player I really like the look of. Portuguese, 20 years of age.

Plays as a DM but with the ability to drive the team forward. He has great vision, awareness, great passerr of the ball.

Played for Porto's first team since aged 17, not just in the league, but Champions league also. Not bit parts either, he's captained Porto.

He plays for the national side also, and plenty of comparisons liken him to Moutinho.

I've seen him a few times now and he's caught the eye. I think at 20 years old, and with Poch's input he could be the perfect replacement for when Dembele leaves.

His passing from deep is very good, always looking to move the ball forward straight away, if he can't, he'll look to have a dribble forward.

Technically sound, been with Porto since 8 years old, with masses of experience for one so young. I'd be all over this.

Wolves the last time I looked (Friday ) sat top of the Championship. I think it would be safe to say if they got promoted, there would be a few clubs sitting up and taking notice of this lads ability.

Think Winks in style of play, but Neves is of bigger frame. I think the pair of them could compliment each other quite well, and or be part of rotation with Dembele, Wanyama and Dier.

He only just moved to Wolves for this seasons start. Club record and Championship record paid for his services. Circa £16 million. So of course I know we won't be securing in January. But a pre contact for an offer they couldn't refuse.

Think this lad would offer us more than Barkley and 3 years younger.

Barkley and Zaha.

Barkley would offer us greater depth in midfield, good technical ability along with typical British tenacity and drive.

Zahr would bring the wing / wide striker play that we're missing, running at opposition defenders, imposing our game and creating chances. Should score quite a few too.

If that's the case let's get him for free on 1st July instead of wasting £12-15M on him in January. We could use that money to give our first team players an extra £1m a year each (£20k per week).

I can imagine Barkley will come and Zaha an option in the summer. No chance can I see Palace selling Zaha in the position they're in at the moment.

Good shout. Wolves would fight hard to keep him but I don't think they'd be able to. We do need to look a bit long term for a Dembele replacement IMO and Kovacic would be my choice because he'd cover Eriksen as well but RM would strong arm us and expect plenty in return. Also depends if Onomah has a future with us.
