It won't happen, but I quite like the look of Richarlison of Watford. He looks to have bags of potential & is everything GKN isn't.

Realistic not defeatist and I'm probably one of the most optimistic members on the forum, for the reasons already stated it's not about their immediate wage, we can probably offer something Pulisic and Goretzka would be happy with after all...it's the threat of other clubs coming in and stealing them with a better offer, there's nothing defeatist about that, it's a very real situation and it's happened to us numerous times before. For every Davison Sanchez deal there's a Willian, Hazard, Batsuyai, Mane etc..

I'm not disagreeing with you I'm just not a fan of essentially dismissing a transfer target by saying "will never happen" because someone has quite a negative view of how we might try to do our transfer business based on what has happened in the past.

Let me be clear though, I'm not saying that you are that person and I appreciate where you're coming from, I'm just speaking to a number of posts I've seen.

I agree that we've faced the pain of deals falling through for likes of Willian, Batshuayi, Hazard but that was then and this is now. We're a very different club now to what we were back then. We lost all 3 of those players to Chelsea and this summer we beat the same club to Llorente and Sanchez so you could argue that change is already happening.

I guess my overarching point is that fans can be fearful of other clubs blowing us out if they want and can dismiss a target for fear of having their hopes dashed but that's not for me. I've said it before many times, any player should be so lucky to play for us, especially now.

I think we might have a chance with players still under 21 because of Poch's reputation (rightly deserved) of bringing young players through. If they are already established and slightly older, I think it will be harder for us to make the signing.

I'm personally still disappointed that we didn't sign Demarai Gray. A lot of people were slamming the idea in the summer but a few of us could see the quality he has and in the last few games for Leicester he's finally be allowed the chance to show his class.

Signing a new deal clearly doesnt prevent a transfer from happening in future and I hope we try again next summer if a deal for Zaha can't be done.

not being funny, but Demarai Gray isn't going to want to come and sit on our bench

If we do sign someone, it will only be Barkley
There's been rumours coming from Everton that he is now willing to sign a new contract though

At some point we're gonna have to pay the wages, to step forward. I honestly believe once Levy gets the key to the new stadium that sort of wage won't be a problem.
Definately, going to have make that leap, but not on the likes of Zaha. That would be a giant spit in the face of all the lads that have worked hard to put us in this situation. I say we should pay Kane, Lloris, Vertonghen, Alderwiereld, Dier and Eriksen (I know Alli rightly or wrongly would also be apart of this group) all very well, with the rest of the group payed at a similar level that's in a good touching distance to the top group.

New first team signings, unless if they have proved themselves at the highest of levels, should all have to start at or a little below the second level of established earners until they prove there worth for the club.

Agree with the tone of this the leap needs to be made but not for a player who’s not necessarily better than players already at the club. Alli should be in that group imo, whilst his all round game can be lacking he’s a match winner

Never has our stock been higher, we've just out classed Madrid at Wembley in the CL.

We rightly should be looking at the top end of the market in terms of the best young talent out there.

And the very fact that Pochettino is more than willing to trust and play young talent can only help attract them.

Not to mention it demonstrates serious ambition to our current key players and can only help in terms of their contract renewals.

That’s for the summer though, nothing big really happens in January these days, Barkley seems plausible for obvious reasons

Yeah I have no problem putting Alli in that group and if I have Dier there then Alli deserves it also. I hesistate slightly because I know that Alli has it in him to go to a lot higher level with his footballing ability, that combined with his already wide public appeal, will make him a massive superstar that will probably take him away from spurs one day. :(:(:(

Barkley is right up Poch's street. Can play number 8, 10, wide right, wide left. Young, English, potential to improve. All over that shit.

Yeah, wasn't talking about January, more in general.

Agree on Barkley.

General insight into Zaha deal. Had we been convinced he really wanted to come we would go the extra mile. He did not want more than Kane. He just kept ‘urming & arming’ (Ignore spelling). We then moved on. We are eyeing options, and very keen on That Dortmund USA born’ winger. That could happen, even if bigger clubs with fatter cheque books come in. That is not to say it will happen as Sess of Fulham is ‘almost a banker’. Ross Barkley, we all know about. As Trix stated, would be amazed if we signed anyone else aside from him in January. UNLESS , one of the two other names I have mentioned becomes available.

Lamela is in a very, very thin rope! He has been FIT for ages.

I take it heads not right?

Pulisic seems to be a real option if ITK is to be believed. I don’t actually think wages for Leon would be that difficult but I do agree there would be other destinations he would be more favourable to, Barca seemingly one of them. I don’t think we have been linked to him once and as he will be available for free so I imagine the worlds elite will be wanting him. Who we could be looking at is Rabiot, I know that sounds crazy because of who he playes for, but he has tuned down several lucrative offers from PSG and his current contract runs out in 2019. It seems he may be wanting a change of scenery. Obviously there is still a lot of time and no doubt he will eventually extend... but IF he doesn’t and is making noises about moving then I would love to at least try as it may not all be about the money with him and he would be excellent for our system.
Nobody I know believe Sancho will be in Germany next summer.

So by giving him game time has more to do with increasing Bor. Dort. wanting his market value?

Won't happen in January but I'd be extremely surprised if we don't go in for Pulisic next summer. It makes far too much sense not to. Ignoring facts he's young with vast potential, energetic and basically a player we could do with and on low wages, also, we'll be moving into a new stadium which will most likely have a big American companies name on it, the kits are made by another huge American company and the NFL will begin to be played at our stadium.

It's an absolute no brainer to bring in the star of the American national team, marketing wise with the NFL, Nike and him there'd be big possibilities to help grow our brand across the pond. Ignoring all that though he's a damn good player too who under Poch could turn into one of the best in Europe.
