Martin Jol has reported that Teemu Tainio is out of the Carling Cup semi-final, first leg against Arsenal at the Lane on Wednesday night with an ankle injury.

The all-action midfielder picked up the problem in the first half of Saturday's keenly-contested London derby draw against Fulham in the Barclays Premiership.

Starting in central midfield alongside Tom Huddlestone, Teemu was forced out of the action after just 26 minutes at Craven Cottage when he was replaced by Didier Zokora.

Martin confirmed on Monday afternoon: "Teemu has an ankle sprain and it's likely he'll be out for 10 days."

Martin also said that Ledley King had suffered a slight setback in his recovery from a bruised foot but insisted the skipper could still be in the squad for Saturday's FA Cup fourth round tie against Southend United at the Lane.

I hope i am wrong, but i have a worrying feeling that there is more than the club are letting on about Ledley's injury.
i just hope he is not out for much longer, we need you king LEDDERS!!!

It's all very worrying bout Ledley - here's hoping Rocha is ready for the second leg - cos I have a horrible feeling LK won't be

Teemu is the ultimate sicknote - he must get injured just walking to work!

TT gets injured chuckin himself all over the pitch to win the ball.

Unlike others who probably just hope to stay fit for the next game!

I have to agree tottenham28 and DC Boy, this situation with Ledley just doesnt look good, I wish the club would just come out and let us know whats really up with our captain.

Very true. always gives his best. He never withdraws when challenging and that is where the injuries come from. He IS A fighter. Some say that he is mediocre, but I say his heart and grit make up for his technical deficiency. Like Micheal Brown, whom I always rated for his work rate.

Tainio is in a different league to Brown. He has the fight and a hell of a lot more class than Brown. Should'nt be mentioned in same sentence together.

Assuming there really is no smoke without fire (which is far from a given), they're not going to do that while we're actively out in the market looking for centre backs, are they? That's called shooting yourself in the foot and leads to the problems Chelsea are facing - extortionate sums being asked for average to good players by clubs who know you're desperate. Not good business.

Granted. But you know what I meant. Brown was not our favourite but the way he led Fulham to nearly a victory says it all. Class and technical ability is not always the most important thing.

It's not good to throw yourself about and get injured. I'd much rather a player like Carrick who wins the ball and stays fit with a simple foot in.

The ledley situation is fine; it's a bruised foot, which is different to the knee injury he got at the start of the season, which is different to the broken metatarsal he had at the end of last season. Don't fuss yourselves.

I'm surprised you thought so. I thought Brown had a pretty ineffective game, especially in the first half, when he continually passed the ball into touch and missed tackles.

gotta say i reckon ledders is fcuked but as was said earlier spurs aint gonna come out n say that wen we r tryin 2 buy replacements. wudnt b suprised as soon as we got some1 spurs come out n say leds needs op!

I agree theres something more to this than meets the eye. Ive recovered from a broken toe quicker than this "bruised bone" has healed.
