Temporary Home?

Where would be the best temporary/most likely home for us?

I think we should rent Allianz Park.

Lend Saracens the money (5-10m) to build another 6.5k capacity stand opposite the main one which they need anyway.
Put in two temporary stands of 10k each behind each goal.

Result, local stadium of 33k in heart of north London round the corner from my house.

Interesting idea. I sat in a temporary stand while watching the Olympic Hockey in 2012; could work. Apart from the running track, Allianz park is a nice place; I'm part of a business networking group that meets there every week.

However, I chose the Emirates because I live in Muswell Hill. And yes, I know it will never happen

I'd love for us and Arsenal or Chelsea set the attendance record at the Olympic stadium.

A record that trolls West Ham forever more.

Upton Park has been sold to Galliard Homes for redevelopment when Spam move out.

I don't want a move to Emirates but on thesubject of red seats, I would hope that you wouldn't notice as we wouldn't have as many empty ones as they do!

I would love the Valley as it's 20 minutes walk from my house but the transport links aren't great and it's a nightmare round there with traffic on matchdays.
Couldn't we pay the company to delay it for a couple of years?

I like Allianz Park a lot, but the transport links are poor. We always have to drive / get a cab over there from Enfield as there is no real public transport alternative. TFL website says the quickest route would take about 90 mins and involves a train, 2 buses and a 20 minute walk. I guess the story would be similar for all fans living in the vicinity of the A10 corridor.

Then there's the fact that Saracens play on an artificial surface...

Shows how much I need another coffee this morning - I was thinking "a cab to Munich??? that's a bit frivolous!! Oh, Allianz Park!"

In terms of transport links, Wembley is the winner, hands down. Well, the one with better links is the Olympic Stadium but I can't see that happening.

Chelsea outbid Spurs on Wembley hire

Submitted by WG on Tue, 07/07/2015 - 08:38
Chelsea have offered around £11m a year to use Wembley as a temporary home while Stamford Bridge is redeveloped. They want to play there for three seasons from the start of the 2017-18 campaign.

They appear to have outbid Tottenham Hotspur who will need to leave White Hart Lane for two years in 2017 as their new stadium is built. They are thought to have offered Wembley about £8m a year.

The Wembley board has not yet made a decision yet on whether to rent it to a team which could have knock on effects on other sporting and music events that bring in the cash.

There could be planning issues because the number of events that can be staged at Wembley in a year is restricted if the attendance is about 50,800, although the constraint can be circumvented if the top tier is closed. 50,800 is more capacity than either club has at the moment.

Other factors for the board to take into account include the stadium being used for American football matches in the autumn. There is also the possibility of a London-based NFL franchise.

Spurs are reluctant to share the Olympic Stadium with West Ham because of a poor relationship with the club. They both made bids to rent the stadium. They also fear that the stadium would be heavily branded by the Hammers.

They have considered using Upton Park which has been sold for a housing development, but it is thought that the refurbishment costs would be too high after everythinng had been ripped out by West Ham.

The fall back position is to use stadium mk in Milton Keynes, but that is not popular with fans.

Spurs are expected to put in a new planning application for a 61,000 area, having been given permission for a 56,000 seat stadium three years ago. The stadium would be designed to accommodate American football matches which the club hope could help to attract a partner to fund the development.

Chelsea must be very confident that they are going to be granted planning permission for Stamford Bridge without any problems if they are already planning on hiring Wembley for the 2017-18 season considering they have only just revealed there plans to redevolp Stamford Bridge.

Ha, come on, the way Abramovich does business the whole planning and consent board will have Bentleys and apartments in Dubai as soon as the application goes in.

Will certainly be interesting to watch how quickly Chelsea manage to get planning approval.

I actually like their mad brick plans, but I hope they don't build it as quickly as reported.

I think Arsenal owe us a ground share after we let them use White Hart Lane when they needed to.

Indeed.

We could also balance the account by getting them relegated.

Silly me, that would mean bribing that bastion of honesty and integrity known as the FA.

What was I thinking?

How about a cheeky bid to play at St Mary's for a season? I can't See Southampton having any objections.
