PSV are not very good - won the Dutch league but it's far weaker than it used to be and its clubs seldom get through the group stage. It would be a substantial upset for them not to finish bottom of this group. Inter have had some down years stuck in mid-table hence being in Pot 4 but scrapped 4th last year - we'll be favourites to finish ahead of them and to beat them at home but you'd probably take a point at the San Siro.

Barca are pretty decent too.

Meh. Never heard of them.

Dutch football on a low, PSV however their best team at the moment.
Got a star player in Hirving Lozano, shined at the World Cup.

Dinner is a good idea. But make sure to split the bill.

I knew someone would respond thus because it’s the exact sort of smart alec remark I’d have gone with.

Going Dutch thoug? Not sure

I suppose letting them pay is also acceptable.

Are you watching a different draw?
Well they didn't get Plzen or Brugge, did they? Shakhtar are a handful, Lyon and Hoffenheim are both solid sides. It's a group City should win but they can't take any of those sides lightly.

Reminder of Inter's transfer window: Radja Nainngolan, Stefan De Vrij, Vrsaljko from Atleti, Lautaro Martinez, and Keita Balde.

They're going to be a damn good opponent.

I bet Barca is glad they didn't sell Inter Rafinha now.

Add Icardi to that mix (top scorer in Serie A last season by a distance) and it's a dangerous opponent. They're not a hugely offensive side either so expect both games to be cagey affairs. Adding a positive spin, they only got to the CL as Head to Head is prioritised ahead of GD, otherwise it would be Lazio. Their start to the season has also been poor - drawing with Torino and losing to Sassuolo.

Barca and PSV will both play an attacking brand of football, which should suit us nicely.

Apparently Barca have topped their group 11 seasons running.

Shame the run will come to an abrupt end this year. :sneaky:

I have no idea why some are so confident we'll go through. Inter is a much improved team, with some very, very good players. Barca is, well, Barca. And PSV won't be easy. Frankly, going through isn't my biggest concern. I'm simply happy to see how many amazing games we get to play. If we go through, that's a huge bonus. In many ways, the pressure is kinda off. If we weren't to qualify from the group, I don't think anyone would consider it an embarrassment. Much like last year, the team seemed to revel in the lack of expectations. Perhaps we'll see something similar this year.

For now though... I'm so happy with that draw. It's what the CL is all about. Away and home games against some of the traditional giants of European football, playing in iconic stadiums, competing against some of the best players in the world. That's what excites me the most.

I'd rather this group, than Group D... D for DULL.

So then...questions...

1. Are we going to have a multi-game Champions League package like we've done in the previous two seasons? Given that we don't know where the games are being played I'd guess this is unlikely. I'd assume the prices will go up massively for these games now especially Barca.

2. When will we find out on which dates we're playing who? I am likely to miss at least one and possibly two for business travel and I'll be heartbroken to miss a big home game.
