Good work by Drew Brees and co, I think with the ballsy things they tried during the game (going for it at every opportunity, and the genius decision to try an early onside kick), they deserved to win. New Orleans just seemed to want it more than Indianapolis.

Nice to see them win after all the horrors of Katrina, too.

Big Trade for the Dolphins today.

Quite happy with that, First star receiver in the team in a long time.

The buzz that that Ginn will be traded away makes that decision to take him in the first round now officially a shocker tho.

If the Dolphins keep hold of Ginn and get a decent QB they could be a serious threat next season.

Should we start up the new new NFL thread soon?

We're doing well with 114 pages at the mo

Nooooooooooo. You can't murder this thread. The NFL thread has been killed once before.

:D

that's cool then. Thought it'd make sense to have the new season in it's own space. Much easier to look back through.

I think Henne will step up and become a top ten QB in the next few season. Don't think it'd make sense to draft another.

I want to cry. We've traded Santonio Holmes to the Jets for a 5th round draft pick and now it looks like we are trading Big Ben to the Rams. This upcoming season is going to be shit.

Ginn gone to the 49ers for a fifth round draft pick.

I would've prefered to keep him.

I agree with you Werty.

I guess they know really but I think He still has potential to come good.

Will we get greater value from a 5th round pick?

I don't think Big Ben will be a big loss this season. Maybe they're looking at the long term furture of the team now.

They're just gonna effectively do this a year or two earlier than they might of done with the side issues. Could be a good year to do it too.

I have to disagree. Whilst Batch is one of the best back-ups in the league I wouldn't want him as the starting QB for the entire season. Dennis Dixon has shown he struggles against defenses that play a zone blitz, which is a problem as that's what the Ravens play. Then you have to take into account that our O-line can't protect a QB to save their lives. Until that line is sorted we need a big QB that can take hits and break free of tackles.

I can't understand why we are planning for the future now. The only QB worth taking in this year's draft is Sam Bradford (who we are suppose to be interested in) but we would have to pay through the nose in order to get a pick higher to enough.

Also, we have a lot of pressing concerns for the future and getting rid of a 2x Super Bowl winner because he's been accused (but not charged) twice is just going to make things worse for us. Our O-line is, pardon my French, shit. They can't protect a QB and can't provide any lanes for the RB to use. Our D-line is the NFL version of the Arsenal back four of Adams, Winterburn, Bould and Dixon (ie, very old). Our linebackers are getting on, James Harrison is about 32. Our secondary is beyond shit. The only thing we have going for us is our passing game.

Yeah, all very true.

Maybe they could use Ben for another year or so. I think the aging nature of the team is why they're trying to accumulate as many draft picks as possible. I guess trading those offensive stars is where they'll get best value in trading for draft picks. The players that get brought in this year and next will be bedded in and ready to step into the shoes of the Harrisons as thet start to tail off as they approach 35.

Quite a bit of fortune involved in most draft selections though.

Big Ben is suspended for 6 games and the Steelers have stepped up efforts to trade him.

Yikes. What a fall from grace for Big Ben. The amount of NFL players who get into shenanigans beggars belief.

Giants are taking the NFC East with that schedule. The Texans and Colts will be difficult. The Cowboys could well have had their usual meltdown by the time they play the Giants in Dallas and Kevin Kolb could well have been eaten alive by the Eagles fans by week 11.

Steelers 2010 Regular-Season Schedule
ATLANTA

at Tampa Bay
BALTIMORE

at New Orleans (probably going to this game as I'll be in Baton Rouge then)
