I should mention, that i dreamed of having Ledley's fitness levels, yep my knees were gone

Interesting the papers are saying Davies and Rose out. Does anyone think that Fryers is good enough for our back up next season? i never been a fan.

We haven't been linked another left back yet

I think we'd agree that Fryers in the u21's looked verry suspect in the season before last - especially at LB where he was run ragged several times. I was pleasantly surprised with him last season, but certainly would worry if he had a long run of games (eg 2 - 3 months( due to injury of our No 1 LB.

Tricky call as last season he had no run of games - only 3 PL starts and 6 EL but nothing consecutive, so its tricky to judge him.

I'd be happier with him as 3rd choice LB and 5th choice CB - able to play in a few games but we'don't need to epend on him. But a run of games in pre- season might help him (and us get some confidence in him). Long term I see him as a better CB than LB, but may be wrong there

.

Missed the game so was waiting for someone to put the clip up. Finally able to see what everyone's been raving about Ceballos.
Sharp on the turn and dangerous indeed.

Wow - the style of play is unrecognisable from what we became used to last season! He looked perfectly suited to the style as well.

Chris Miller ‏@WindyCOYS ·
We knew Ledley had started his coaching badges - sounds as though he might now be coaching our kids (perhaps taking on Ehiogu's prev role?).

Now that could be a very good start for Ledley - and the kids

He has said he wants to be a manager so a good start. He could be one of our better coaches especially since he learnt from and is a product of George Graham

He played under a few managers - agreed that Graham got together a great bunch of defendders and made Arsenal's defence very tight, but I think it was Tony Adams hus captain who said he was glad playing under Graham's successors as the play was better.

I'm hoping that King picked up good pointys from all his managers

I really don't think King has the charisma to be a good manager.

I thought that too but he always seemed a great captain. I think we assume that a person has to shout etc to be a good manager. If he sets out good tactics and his players respect him then I do not see why he cant.

On the same basis I was always surprised how effectective he was as Spurs captain - none of the players felt like disobeying him.

Did anyone think Klinnsmann would become a top quality manager - and thinker (he's credited with helping design and drivie through the changes to German youth football after England decimated Germany 5-1 in Munich) when he was at Spurs ? I thought as a captain of Germany he might try his hand at coaching, but many top players do not make it as coaches - look at Bobby Moore as an example.

Lets see how Ledley does coaching the kids and working his way up - much better idea than taking a top job in the limelight and trying to learn how to coach on the job.

One wonders what Obika is doing in the U21 squad, particularly as we have gone to North America with only two strikers. Why on earth did we extend his contract if he is not near the first team at his age?

Is it just me or is it about time our youth teams started winning some trophies? I know in the end it's not hugely important. But it could help attract new signings and also give the players a taste.

we were negotiating to sell him. That contract would most likely guarantee a couple of £100k

Interesting Voss is there, it must mean Vorm in seattle.

As for this group of lads. I fear we may have too many good players

Unless they fly Jon Miles to Toronto or rely on Luke McGee as back up if Freidal is injured.

I just find it so unsettling mcghee being with the first team. Now it is not unusual for players to train/travel with first team winks and veljkovic have being doing it for ages but I really do not think you should reward average young players, mcgee is a talent but not deserved of a place in my opinion. I think it could stifle his development if he had to play. (I know its only friendlies)

Eurofoot u19's ? Ist weekend in August - ie 10 days time

That's it thank you. Because you told us about it so long ago, and we'v only just about the new one which we are going to this week, I assumed I must have missed it.

Anyway good young team we are taking, I wonder if they will stream it.

While development is key, I agree it would be nice to win something too. Since the u21 year we should have won we have had so many more good young players come through. Would be great for their confidence and as they say winning begets winning. I am not overly concerned but it would be nice. Sure it could help with new signingm but I think our training ground, being in London, and seeing our players in recent years Caulker, Livermore, Townsend and Bentaleb represent their country is more of an influence. After all we attracted, apparently, Musa Yahaya who everyone was after as we did Coulibaly.

@looklikemodric I heard, can't remember where, that McGee was meant to be a really talented GK. Cba to search the old thread but I assume that is not how you see things
