What a load of fucking shit.....we want our club to grow, bit not this way ,
Is it really. How will the club grow and be able to compete with Arsenal in the way you would prefer. The main anti OS brigade have not given any realistic alternative, unless your happy to revert to mid table mediocrity.

So you have all the facts and figures at your disposal in spain do you?

The NLD was an option, and suddenly its a no go, wake up, Levy has had the rug pulled from his feet, Enic want a quick and easy solution, fuck the consequence of us moving from where we belong, so as to sell us to the highest bidder.

Levy began going for the OS as a bluff to get Harringey co. to drop their demands, and Enic had their eyes open to the idea, they couldn't give a toss about what it means to our club, they will sell and all you pro stratford posters will eat your words one day, we will be stuck in east london with new liverpool style owners who are in it to make a buck.

It will all end in tears....but will be too late, becareful what you wish for!

What a load nonsense, the best thing for ENIC is a succesful Spurs team.
You still haven, said how we will successfully compete with Arsenal etc by staying at WHL.

Catch a grip of yourselves people! We haven't been at White Hart Lane since the beginning! Clubs grow and outgrow their surroundings. That is what has happened at the Lane (which, even if we stayed wouldn't be called that!) and it makes sense to move to the next level - both figuratively and otherwise!

Football now is a global game and can't be restricted to a borough in London.
Staying there would only end up crippling the club financially.
As Levy has already said Spurs are leaving the Lane even if we don't get the OS.

We are competing with Arsenal now are we not? Isn't that proof.

There is no guarentee that we will not compete in the future, money doesn't always mean success.

Yes it helps, and by the way, i am all for expanding WHL or the NLD, i would even sort of be open to a move nearer our ground and in north london, i have made my feelings as to why i hate stratford, i can't be asked to repeat it over again.

Ironic though you worry about competing with the arse, and on another thread you say i am fixed on them.

Think I've already answered that:

Until the development of the Emirates and the influx of sugar daddies, we've always had the potential to compete with the the top teams in the league. We've had a reasonably even financial footing and failed to challenge through bad choices in players and managers. There has been a tangible dream that we're only a couple of players away and next year will be our year. That's part of the reason we've been happy supoprting an average mid-table side, because there has been a large amount of hope and belief that our sleeping giant would rise again.

Unfortunately, in recent years, we've been gradually losing this even footing and competing with an increasing handicap. This has actually co-incided with us making some good choices of players and manager so in the short term things look rosy but this short term fluctuation merely hides the long term issue.

Without moving to a new stadium, our handicap will become bigger and bigger. We will lose that potential to compete with the top teams and more crucially, we will have to accept that we wont be able to compete with clubs like Arsenal on the pitch or in the transfer market. It will no longer be a realistic aim to compete at the top. That is the difference between what we have been through before and what will happen if we stay at the Lane.

You may have answered it mate, but it doesn't mean you have convinced me.

The last 2 sesons under harry has shown us all what can be achieved without mercaneries or 50 m signings.

Levy would have had a stronger case if he had kept Gross with all that mediocracy, Harry has shown him it can be done .

Levy got us an amazing shirt sponser deal, we qualified for the CL,there are many ways to skin a cat.. we are moving in the right direction, instead of fucking around trying to move us, he should concentrate on buying a forward that will get us goals and the CL again, or we will be left behind sooner than we think.

We all agree that a 60,000 stadium would benifit us financially, but i don't think we have given the NLD or other options a real chance.

Sugar was the chairman who sacked Gross.
Levy is the best chairman we have had in 40 years, if he says we need to move, I believe him. Perhaps you would prefer a Glazer style takeover?

In a couple of years when West Ham's been sold to wealthy billionaire investors on account of them being in the Olympic Stadium and they're attracting all the young fans from our traditional catchment areas.

When Chelsea have West London and Arsenal with their massive turnover have ensured their CL future.

When Spurs are struggling to get in the top ten, can't fill the 36k seat stadium except for the Derby's.

When Modric is playing for West Ham and Bale for Man City and we have some Andy Sinton equivalent in midfield and a Stefan Iverson type up front.

When ENIC have sold out to a consortium of local business men, life-long Spurs supporters who are skint but get the club.

I sincerely hope you lot who're against expansion and pro standing still won't be moaning about the state we're in. I really hope you'll all be satisfied that we're a North London Club based in Tottenham and who cares if we're shitter than West Ham, we're better than Leyton Orient aren't we?

Because honestly, you'll have no cause to moan, you'll have got exactly what you were prepared to risk happening so you can keep hold of "North London" or whatever the hell the reason was.

And in 30 years, when we're playing in the arse-end of nowhere League North and Arsenal and West Ham are competing for honours in the World League Europe, you'll be able to scratch your hoary chins and explain to your disinterested grandchild that we're the real North London Club, that bunch down the road are immigrants and he'll reply with a yawn,

"Yes grandad, can we go home now? Arsenal are on the telly it's the London derby, they're playing the Hammers!"

And you'll shake your head at how little the youth understand about the important things in life!

Its not so much Levy i don't trust, i agree he has been a very good chairman.

He is an employer of Enic, he doesn't decide on the sale of the club.

A trifle hysterical, don't you think?

I mean, thank fuck London was awarded the Olympics in the first place really, eh? Or we'd be properly in the you-know-what right now with zero hope of anything else happening I guess.

I think you're overreacting, the NDP is not dead and buried. Levy said it's currently not viable, but that can change.( But then I don't understand how it suddenly didn't become viable). And If we don't get the OS, I'm sure the board will sit down and try their best to make the NDP work.

If the hammers get the OS, I think it would be fairly safe to say the running track will disappear.
As regards the NPD it is not financially viable now and very unlikely to be in the future. The other options may make the OS look like a lost opporunity.

.

I know :), but it's fun being hysterical every now and again. The serious point is, of course, that standing still is in effect falling back. If we stay at WHL and don't expand we're almost certainly screwed, maybe not next year or the year after, but sometime in the next 10 to 20 years.

If West Ham get the OS, which they probably will, that club suddenly becomes very attractive to a Billionaire investor.

You find solace in the running track hinderance but if you're super rich finding an expensive solution isn't that hard.

Sell to a billionaire playboy and watch them find a solution to the running track issue.

We haven't in the recent past. And history's littered with teams that once were the biggest in the land and are now mired in the lower or non-leagues with attendances numbering in the hundreds rather than thousands. It's precisely your lack of perspective which I'm warning you about.

If it's unaffordable they almost certainly won't. I'm not saying it won't happen but it's unlikely to. In which case the risk of the scenario I paint is scarily high.

I don't know how old you are, but from the tenor of your post I'd say under 40? If you were you were older you'd be a hell of a lot less complacent than you seem to be.

Well i'm 22, so ever since I can remember nearly all our home games have been at or close to full capacity. So I assume you're talking about before that time, but surely now if we continue to be in the Premiership with our strong and loyal fan base the current trend will continue no matter if we're top in the top 10. But you're right in saying if we drop down the divisions attendances will fall.

As for the rest, I'd be gutted if that does happen and I'd just have to accept it if that worst-case scenario happens. It could happen but I think we can agree its more unlikely than likely to happen. But that's not going to change my view on moving to East London. I'll support Tottenham no matter what league but that doesn't mean I don't care how well they're doing because like every Spurs fan I want Tottenham to be the best. I want Spurs to stay in Tottenham for the reasons I support the club. I still have hope(even if it is slight) that the NDP will happen and I do understand how crucial it is to get a new stadium that's why the board is considering the OS so we can avoid that "scenario", but I guess I would find it easier to accept that than play in East London.
