Collingwood has got the big'un. Hussey bowled (played on) for 33.

Australia 176-6 and England into their long tail!

Disappointing end to the 1st session.

From 189-8 they ended on 230-8. Hopefully i'll wake in the morning to discover that we polished them off early after the restart and end the day infront for the loss of only a few wickets!

after bowling so well, thought we lost our discipline a bit with the tailenders...they will be lifted by this

Wasn't much time for that in the end, but not a really great start, think this test may have draw written all over it....

Got dark early in Sydney today, it was still beaming in Melbourne.

Could have done without KP throwing it away late on, although I fancy Colly to come good tomorrow, I think he's fighting for his test career.

Alistair Cook. Superb.

KP giving his wicket away late on was stupid but its what you get with Pieterson as attackign cricket is his style, but we'll certainly need to kick on tomorrow and build as big a lead as possible as it will not be particularly nice to bat on second time around and although Beer and Smith are no Shane Warnes it will still spin on the last day!

Lets hope we haven't thrown it away ala the 3rd test when we let the Aussy tail dig them out of trouble!

This is in the balance, the first session is massive and whoever wins it will be in pole position. It wouldn't surprise me if the first innings ended up roughly even, maybe 20/30 runs either way.

Any sort of lead on this pitch would be a great one. They are starting early every day now so hopefully we'll get some great action.

It's been a superb test match so far, a bit of everything for everybody on a proper test match pitch, I thought the last four overs last night was gripping cricket with some more to come for the next 3 days, I hope.

Cook supposedly caught on 99, but it turns out it clearly bounced and Hughes and Haddin tried to claim it anyway.

Very naughty, and not in the spirit of the game at all..

Cook has just made his 100 although the cheating Aussie gits did their best to change it by claiming a catch at short leg when he was on 99.

Hughes clearly knew that it bounced first as did Haddin yet they still celebrated and waited for the umpires to refer it upstairs before the correct decision was made. Maybe they need a chance though as we're clearly the superior side on show. Perhaps we should let them play one hand one bounce??

I have to say that its been moments like that on this tour that have made it even sweeter for us to beat....no thrash (disclaimer: i reserve the right to edit this post should things go tits up!) them in their own back yard!

England currently 225-4

Collingwood has gone for 13 and Beer is celebrating his first official Test match wicket.....no reprieve this time for an England batsman.

I've seen nothing of Beer to think we should fear him if the pitch does deteriorate, Cook looks well set so if Bell can support him till lunch and see off the new ball with the rest contributing some scores, we look good for a good lead.

Swann should have a field day, their bowlers are making some terrific rough for him.

Cook is breaking all manner of records in this series. Considering people were calling him to be dropped before the ashes. Form is temporary etc etc.
