I agree, that's why I don't hurl bananas at people, irrespective of motives! However settling for "well, that's how our media is" is a lazy and poor excuse, because it's the media who are capable of inciting a range of emotions.

Let's suppose that in our next match, our fans are confronted by other fans for being "racist" and a fight breaks out. Will that not be due to the inaccuracy of the media coverage, jumping to conclusions? The problem with "mobs" is that the actions, or alleged actions, of one individual is generalised to include the whole mob. So now, some will go around thinking that Spurs fans are racist. That is inherently wrong and due to the media headlines.
Sure but we are essentially powerless against the media.

I don’t listen to or read the lowest denominators of the media and think bringing their simplistic views into life furthers their agenda by making their viewpoint relevant.

It is unfortunate that the actions of this idiot have allowed us to be branded a racist club. This is so annoying because our club is so obviously not racist. It allows the media to deflect attention from the likes of Chelsea and West Ham who are genuinely racist.

I think this is bollocks!

Pretty much every club in the country with a sizeable support will have some lug-nuts in the crowd. The whole holier-than-thou approach just makes us look even more silly when something like this happens.

Maybe he wasn't trying to be racist, but why the fuck is he throwing anything? And why the fuck is he going through with it, when all he had to hand was a fucking banana skin?! What a ****! A banana skin is going to do nothing, it barely flies, it has virtually zero mass - all it has in its 'favour' in the intention to harm, is racist connotations.
Just put your hand in your pocket and lash some pennies like any normal fan, you tight ****!

We can’t fuck Nutella? PC gone gone mad, hurting the snowflake Nutella’s feelings are we?

It was Apple pies back in the day. That was never frowned upon. What's the world coming to. When one cannot simply Unscrew the lid off a jar of nutella and dip away without upsetting people. Nuts.

Whilst I accept this was unlikely a racially motivated act, would we believe this if it was posted on kumb or the shed end in response to a similar incident happening with Spam or Chelsea? The answer is no so why would the press report it any differently here.

My wife hates all sport with football her no1 hate said "does anybody believe in todays climate that a person throwing a banana would be doing so as a racist gesture. really. this was an act of someone who got overexcited and threw the banana without thinking" well I make her right and speaking of right it did not take Ian Wright long to jump on the have a pop at spurs bandwagon tosser.

In Wright's defence, on MOTD he said in all his times playing in the NLD he got all kinds of abuse but said he never was subjected to racist abuse by us. I know he then went on to condemn this incident, which obviously means he's assuming it's racist, but at least he had the decency to say that even if this is racist, it's out of character for us/the club in general and was clearly just the actions of some idiot.

I think Wright is pretty fair on us and usually has a lot of praise for Spurs. He's a gooner but he gives fair praise when due and has probably effused more about us in the past few years than he has about Arsenal and more than most other pundits i would say.

Yeah I never used to like him when he first started out in punditry because it seemed like he was just there to be the class clown or something. But nowadays I actually think he's pretty decent. As you say, he's usually pretty balanced

Okay I'll ask.................... What were you trying to achieve by sticking your willy in a McDonalds Apple pie.

I think we might believe it but we wouldn't admit that we did.
What I think is that the media most definitely would report it in the same way about West Ham and Chelsea, I think they would report it about any football fans and do it with relish, there is still a level of disdain for football fans and people are always ready to report the worst.

Whether or not he was really trying to be racist, I think in the end the guy is banged to rights either way because throwing anything at the players is a bananable offence regardless. It's like being caught shoplifting and your defence is "I swear officer I wasn't trying to steal that TV. It's only the 3 iPhones I've stuffed down my trousers that I was after!"

Fun fact*: Mcdonald's apple pie fillings are hotter than the surface of the sun.
