Well Toni missed an incredible sitter very similar to that of Bent. Then in the 80th minute Klose was denied by a godlike clearance from the line by a defender (Probably Demel or Boateng). Hamburg also missed plenty of opportunities aswell but not as clear cut. Have to mention though that Petric's goal shouldn't have counted and that Toni's disallowed goal was a controversial decision to say the least. It was a seriously thrilling match and could've really gone both ways. It's as if the players were desperate to play after a long break, which is the case indeed.

BTW, being from Venezuela, it makes me proud that a big team like Hamburg (and more so with Jol) have acquired the services of 21 year old Tomas Rincon on a loan deal until december with an option to make it permanent . He's a talented ball palying midfielder with a potentially bright future. We are growing, slowly but growing.

They hit the bar twice which is pretty clear cut.

But they were long range strikes and not as clear cut as missing a header from 4 yards, a goal that shouldn't have been disallowed and an off the line clearance from a powerful shot. So I still win :violin:

One nutty (and fantastically absorbing) season. Hertha in second place? WTF? Would anyone have imagined/predicted that?

It's got to be the most exciting league in Europe. Overall quality might be a level below the EPL and la Liga, but who gives a monkey's?

Guess who had a stand out performance? Nuri Sahin, the old FM legend. Could FM finally get one right?

Forgot to post last week after watching KPB have a tremendous game. He was everywhere - reminscent of Palacios on the weekend, actually. He tired after 70 minutes but before that he worked his knackers off and set up the play very well. Glad to see him doing well and glad he's just a loan.

I'm still not watching much of the Bundesliga but whenever I do it seems to be a great game. And, strangely, it always seems to feature Leverkusen.

After beating Bayern, Hamburg somehow contrive to lose to Karlsruhe after going two up.

Hoffenheim v. Bayer and Hertha* v Bayern to watch this weekend. Should be good.

* 'the most improbable high-flyers since the Hindenburg' says Rafa Honigstein. You should read his blog in the Guardian, Bill. Entertaining stuff.

Good read, that. Cheers SS57!

"There was a healthy dose of controversy as well when Kevin-Prince Boateng appeared to stamp on Klose's thigh in a suspiciously "accidental" manner."

That's my boy.

What an exciting league this has become (in terms of competition at the TOP rather than the bottom!). So Hertha move into 1st with a 2-1 win over now 4th-placed Bayern. 4 Points separate the top 5 and Martin Jol's Hamburg sneak their way into 3rd, 1 point off Hertha, without anyone apart from me noticing...

Double Pivot are you Gab Marcotti? Your voices are eerily similar.
Your knowledge of German football is impressive and like Marcotti you seem very confident in what you say. Your co-presenter has a an annoying, grating voice but he wasn't so bad as to spoil the show.
All in all a good radio debut.

So, the Schalke-Dortmund derby is on right now. 5 minutes of the first half and KPB has already made a pathetic dive and a shocking tackle that could've merited a red card.

Im rooting for Dortmund

Woah. 4 minutes to go, 10 men, and 1 goal up - can Hamburg go top of the league?!

and they do. Jol's men hang on to their lead with 10 men in the final minutes and are now top of the table, 2 pts ahead of Hoffenheim and Hertha Berlin.

What a fucking awesome league. the most entertaining this season.
