If we all accept we are only a top 6/7 club as we stand and stick to a genuine 3 year plan and not EXPECT success then he is the perfect manager in my opinion

FDB for me, not only would he get the best out of eriksen and verts, but also get likes of Demblele back to his best.

You don't need to preach to us, you need to convince Levy!

Frank de Boer is a better coach than Rodgers imo and look what Rodgers has done at Liverpool with time and backing in the transfer market. Our fans need to look at that and have patience. I truly believe de Boer is a special manager.

I think sticking with, and achieving success with Ajax is the way better option for upward mobility.

I know football is generally crazy but I truly think our reputation has taken a massive hit. Any younger manager showing promise with genuine options or already at a pretty good club like Ajax would need their fucking head examining if they choose to come to us and on a hiding to nothing.

Which is a why a 'been there, done that, slapped the pope in the face' nutter like LVG was so attractive. His reputation would be unblemished by not achieving the near impossible with us.

Exactly, if he's successful with us then he would essentially be in the big time, or the little-big time. It's very hard to make that step; it's a hard job to be successful in.

However, it's worth remembering that although managers may talk about finding the Tottenham job unattractive after the fact, few would pass it up without categorically better options available. And although it's hard, how many managers have passed on a job for it being too tough?

To prosper in that kind of job you probably need an naive or unrealistic faith in your own abilities [since results are actually so far out of your hands].

Exactly, he has LVG's philosophy, combined with a new-school way of dealing with players.

He has a fair amount of Cruyff in him too

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

Is it just me or is the whole thing just incredibly boring now....

Never been this distant from spurs, not sure what to expect next season now. Levy by appointing Sherwood has completely ballsed up, he can't get the next guy wrong

FDB would be a great appointment, both Vertonghen and Eriksen know him and his style/demands and he has a clear vision and philosophy of how the game should be played.

The big issue, is that his philosophy is very similar to AVB's. Lots of high pressing and a high line, lots of patient horizontal passing before a vertical pass forward. These are the characteristics that AVB was famous for and was trying to install in us before he was relieved of his duties.

A massive concern would be that he wouldn't get the time to implement the system and he wouldn't get the right players to fit the system.

Yep.

In some ways I am absolutely fuming over this LvG/United thing and really lost as to who I would want as our next manager.

But in many, many other ways I really do not give a fuck anymore. Whoever comes would be mental to join Spurs, it's a shambles. I don't really care about the transfer window and who we might get in to sell on in the future either. Just not bothered about any of it if I stop and think about it.

And yet I cannot drag myself away from SC.

If we got LVG that would reignite my Spurs fire - and that's why I'm so absolutely gutted today. United ****s. Always ready to fuck us over in new and inventive ways.

I do like De Boer and I would welcome him but this is one I fear could be similar to AVB.

I think our fans would get impatient with his possession style. Pochettino on the other hand has a style proven to be suited to the Premier League. It's a difficult choice however because De Boer has honours and has Champions League experience. To be honest i'd be happy with Poch, De Boer or Benitez.

Don't see the doom and gloom. We're a few defenders and a decent manager away from being a very good team. LVG would have been very nice but let's be honest the other candidates are a million miles better than Tim Sherwood.

Frank will win his 4th consecutive Eredivisie this weekend. His team plays a pro-active, possession game utilising interchangeable positions in the truest traditions of totaalvoetbal. And the last time I checked, he didn't have a penchant for getting his balls out at half time, like his compatriot. Sign him up.

The doom and gloom comes from knowing that we'll sell 157 players this summer and buy 162 to replace them, we'll get a manager in who only needs to lose one game 3-0 and he'll be sacked, and finally from knowing we had the perfect candidate (in my mind) lined up, our first reall 'big beast' top manager in decades, and then United, who have had the same manager forever, decide to sack Moyes and (probably) get in the very man we're after at exactly the same time as us.

This all comes of course off the back of a vile season of failure and shambolic decisions, of players being shit, being wasted, being too good for us (Lloris, Eriksen), and replacing one failing manager with one who has no clue whatsoever and who was a dead man walking from day one.

There ain't much happyness around Spurs at the moment.

And his team just lost the Dutch Cup Final 5-1 to a mid-table team...

Not even Levy, he doesn't want to fire managers. It's the court of public opinion which seems to be made up of Johnny and Jenny come lately types and the boo boys at the lane.
For someone that doesn't want to sack managers, he has done an awful lot of it.
