My mrs says its wrong for me to scour the newspapers to see who is dead and dying, it's like checking to see if i have won on the premium bonds, which reminds me............

I do actually read the daily press on line and look at the obits as part of that. As the old man was an opera singer, there are often people his age and older whom he knew (some younger, sadly) who have died and I keep him up to date.

It's also interesting to read about people's lives and careers and some of the benefits to society they've made and to know if any musical greats have departed.

A morbid interest? Perhaps, but I do like to acknowledge the passing of anyone who has made a contribution to the world or, in a small way, to my own life. I'm not the only one to post threads when someone famous dies though so it's obviously of interest to others, even if they don't like to admit it.

Death is still such a huge taboo but we're all heading that way and it's a natural part of the cycle of life after all. In many other parts of the world, it's celebrated and seen as a passage to another life or dimension. I personally don't believe it's the "end".

I guess that's true, when someone does pass on, some people ask, "What did they do"? and it gets me thinking about what i knew of them, as you say it reminds us of there contribution in this life, or their lifetime!
Morbid...not really, reading about someones life, to remind us of themselves and past times, is merely showing interest i think!
So, its not the "end" then, Cosmic......oooooooo:)!
I'd like to think this is a 'Run through', but, no evidence to support anything otherwise.....

ps. i appreciate the snippets and the info you put up on the site!

God, does no-one die anymore?

If someone doesn't cark it soon, I'm going to head off to that Greek island of his and shoot A&C. That should get us started.

Looks like Sidney Pollack saved you the trouble and my bacon.

Let this be a lesson to you all. Don't get on the wrong side of Billy Two Vadges or he'll put a hex on you.

YSL has departed...

Yves St Laurent that is. 71 yrs Anyone had him on the death roll ?

Or as he is known in my family Yes Saint Laurence 'cos my sister couldn't pronounce
his name properly.

Never knew he was a homosexual, not that there is anything wrong with that, eh !

Apparently, he had been behaving quite oddly so perhaps it was Alzheimers or some kind of dementia.

So, he was gay - not just designer clothes coming out of the closet then.
