Villa could have played all day and not scored.

A bit turd now re sessegnon. Gonna be too expensive now you’d think.

Why is it typical? We aren’t entitled to him, and Fulham are the 3rd best team in the championship, it’s not surprising they won.
I mean, we never get these little breaks working our way. Be it little breaks in important matches, or something like this!

Got a lot of friends who support Fulham and they had a spare ticket yesterday, so went along and it was quite a good experience watching a game as a neutral, and without the feeling of angst that goes with watching Spurs!.
Pretty awful game and Villa were dreadful, without any real creativity - they could still be playing this morning and would not have scored.
I watched Sessegnon carefully, and was very impressed. He has balance, pace, a first touch, and great vision for a young kid. Is he ready for England and a full season in the PL? - probably not, but that will change in another year or so in my opinion.
So, is he worth spending a lot of money on? - I definitely think so, and in this market probably £30m up front and another £20m in add ons seems to feel about right.
Alas, I don't think it will happen now - I mean why would he need to, and Fulham don't need the money. He will get all the game time he needs next season.

.....And Alli for £5m
No-one disputes that we’ve signed some good players, my point is more about little slices of luck that always seem to go against us. There can’t be a Spurs fan who really thinks we’ve got the rub of the green much this decade or the previous one.

Fair play to him and Fulham. They took the risk, and if it pays off, its a good move. I appreciate his loyalty to Fulham, and if that means Spurs miss out, such is life.
If we get our business right this summer and make that leap into the next level, then perhaps we may only need to add one player per summer window going forward, therefore we may be able to splash out big on one real talent - Sessegnon could be that one in the future?!

Rather than blow a huge amount of our funds this summer on a player who may need a season or two to develop further I'd rather go out and buy a player who is more likely to make an immediate impact now, strengthen our squad, see how Sess gets on and do what United used to under Fergie with one big buy per summer.

A rather nasty mess brewing at Villa:

Alarm bells were ringing at Aston Villa long before a tax bill went unpaid last month. The first indication that all was not well came last year, when Tony Xia’s monthly payments stopped arriving with the same frequency, leaving a club that were operating way beyond their means, and are totally dependent on the owner’s financial support, scrambling around to pay the bills.

Xia, the Chinese businessman who revealed that it was his dream to turn Villa into one of the world’s top three clubs when he took over two years ago, had previously always made regular transfers to cover the outgoings, averaging around £4m a month across his first season. Yet the Guardian understands that those payments were made nothing like as consistently from as far back as 2017.

£4m a month. Ouch.

We don't know the full story here yet, but doing business in corrupt non-democracies like China, Russia and the Gulf is not the same as doing business in advanced, non-corrupt European democracies like the UK.

I make absolutely no accusation of corruption about Mr. Xia, but corrupt systems with corrupt environments that require wheel-greasing and where ethics wax and wane do not prepare you for operating in non-corrupt jurisdictions where the rule of law is respected and adhered to. And where taxes are paid on time, and if they can't be, responsible CEO's try to get in front of the problem with the authorities - they don't get fucking suspended for ratting out the owner.
