Starts in around a week's time.

Rafa Nadal struggling with injury to defend his crown but will more then likely recover in time.

Then you have britains one and only hope Andy Murray who has come into his own the last year or so with some fantastic wins against top class players. He won at queens club as well in the pre-wimbledon tournament, first englishman to do so for like 70 odd years

Ive been to the opening day for the last 2 years, managed to get re-sell tickets for center court as well to watch djokovic last time around, anyone planning on going?

Wish I could go again this year, but unfortunately I am in China. Normally get some free tickets and when I was working at the ITF I had an official pass so I could get in every day. Definately the best tournament in the world.

If you could dig up the thread on Wimbledon from last year it is mostly people slagging off Murray. What is the betting that this year people are suddenly behind him. Personally I hope he does really well. Still think Federer is the man to beat (and would be even if Nadal was at full fitness).

Also 15 year old Laura Robson is in the draw this year after winning the Juniors last year. Could be interesting to see how she does.

Got my Centre Court tickets for the second tuesday. It's a shame, I was going to queue up to buy an outside ticket with my mate on the first Tuesday, but I couldn't get the day off work.

Yeh that just reads like a Hughy and IOMLS commentary of Wimbledon. I'm sure there was a lot of slagging off of Murray in some thread. Maybe it was the year before.

Why would people slag off Murray? He's a top player and will win majors, I've always said that about him.

I remember lots of people saying he was negative and lots of English people seem to have a grudge against him because he made comments about the English football team. He has a great shot, in the same half as an injured Nadal.

Yeah it's exactly because of that. Some stupid journalist thought it would be funny to ask him how he thought Scotland would do in the World Cup, knowing full well they hadn't qualified. Murray, who was 18 and lacked experience with the press, replied tongue in cheek that he would be getting out his Paraguay shirt (England's opponents) at the weekend.

Suddenly the gutter press turns this into 'Murray bleeds haggis and thinks all Englishmen should be burnt at the stake'.

I for one really hope he wins it.

Murray WILL win wimbledon. Mark my words, im quoting this when it happens.

...and it wont be federer that he will be beating in the final either. He'll get rid of him in the semi's!

Exactly, was just a joke. Now the press moan that he is grumpy and doesn't joke around enough. Can't win.

In other news, Vaidisova will play Safina in the second round of the Womens if they both progress. Considering she hasn't got past the second round of a Grand Slam since Wimbledon last year, I wouldn't fancy her chances. However, as Safina's so unbelievably poor on grass, could be game on.

Going for Vaidasova again? I reckon she would have a decent shot against Safina too. Hantuchova v. Laura Robson first round. Laura has a great game for grass, big serve and ground strokes and moves well, but Hantuchova has plenty of experience on grass. Could be a good game.

Your other pick from last year, Marcos Baghdatis, is already out. Who are you going for this year?

I wouldn't put any money on Vaidisova, but I'd love for her to reach her third successive Wimbledon QF, maybe even go past it. And I think she has a great chance of doing so if she can grind out a result against Safina. As for the mens, obviously I want Murray to get as far as possible, and now the draw has opened up for him I hope he takes the opportunity.

In other news, I was round the Scot's new house in Oxshott yesterday to finish a couple of bits off on the Intruder Alarm system. Unfortunately we missed him, however Kim was there. She's really pleasant, we didn't ask her anything about Andy, but she's saying how the paps can be a rght nightmare. When she offered us a drink, she gave me a bottle of Andy's Highland Spring! Of course, I've kept the empty bottle as a souvenir!

I saw vaidisova last year. Providing she is the reasonably fit blonde, then yeah its definetly her

@ Hughy..

Why isn't it possible for murray to beat federer? Since Nadal and Federer are seeded 1 & 2 (I presume), I thought they could only meet in the final, meaning 1st seeds meets 3rd seed (aka Federer vs Murray) in the semi's

..or has Nadal pulling out changed something?

..or is it 1st seed vs 4th seed in the semi's and 2nd vs 3rd?

Federer was the second seed, mate. Meaning Murray's in the top half of the draw, and Federer's in the bottom.

Yeh Murray and Federer are opposite sides of the draw. Murray is now the highest seed in the top half. Grass court tennis very often throws up players who do nothing the rest of the year. Take Sluiter this week, reaching the final in Holland and being ranked 886 (the lowest ever to make a tour final).

It'll be interesting for sure, but Federer is still the king of Wimbledon regardless of what happened last year. People keep talking about the edge Murray has over Federer but Grand Slam tennis is a whole different animal. Federer destroyed him in the US Open final last year.

With Nadal out of Wimbledon, Federer will return to number 1 if he wins. If Murray wins the top 3 will be seperated by almost nothing (and he will overtake Federer).
