I agree about the kind of inevitability of it. I would just add that as tennis player Federer is untouchable but I don't think he is down to earth at all and seems to have an unlikable cocky side to him, understandable really, but I was definitely rooting for Roddick and he looked a bit pissed when Federer rather condescendingly said 'I know what it's like to lose'.

I also thought the BBC coverage was poor, we didn't need to see Sampras every five minutes and comments like 'it willl be interesting if it rains' from Tiger Tim made you really miss Mac.

Boris Becker offers nothing to the commetry team either.

So BOris, what do you think Roddick?federra needs to do to break/win here:
'He just needs to break here'

Idiot!

I'm not sure on Federa either, no doubt he is good, probably the best ever, certainly deserves those grand slams, but I am just not sure what to make of him. Is it an air of arrogance he has?

Many people call Murray a cocky git, but Federa seems way more cocky.

Roddick,c omes across as a thoroughly decent fella though, I did seem to warm to him more so yesterday.

Am I the only one who found it a little bit boring?

Last years match, and the previous finals were certainly far more entertaining. But when both guys are serving like that, it becomes that sort of match. Federer had over 50 aces!! Roddick had just under 30 I think.

I actually think Roddick deserved to win, even though I was cheering for Federer. I thought Fed was a bit sloppy, and made some really uncharacteristic errors. But when it came down to it, his experience helped and I think maybe that's what won it for him. That and the fact that Roddick looked like he was going to nearly die.

Maybe calling Fed a prick is a bit harsh, but I just find him so boring and arrogant, he's got no personality at all.

Not compared to Murray, and before Murray - McEnroe, Connors and Agassi.

Fed is just a drone and there are so many similar drones out there, as for the woman's game

I wouldn't have described the match as boring but there had been better matches earlier in the tounament, Murray under the roof, Roddick vs Hewitt spring to mind. Plus it will be compared to last years final which was one of the best matches ever.

Like a few people I'm not very fond of Federer either. Definately the best player of all time but just seems arrogant and (as Coyboy said) really condescending. I also read in the paper today that he wore a tracksuit with 15 printed on it, that's not cool just disrespectful to the opponent. But he is brilliant and I expect him to extend his new record with a few more Grand Slams.
