How Germany hasn't scored a 2nd is baffling....Chile just handing chance after chance to them.

Win or Lose I love Chile's approach to the game and how brave they are, playing as a collective. One of the best coached teams since the time when Bielsa went there. If they had just a bit more depth of individual quality...

Vidal is pretty good isn't he. I didn't realise he was such a skilfully passer of the ball.

Agree. Love their team application. They could use the guile that Valdivia brought during the Copa.

Decisions like that won't help the VAR debates.

How does the ref only give a yellow for that after seeing the replay?

If they can stop the game and give a yellow card based on the review then the games finished IMO. Red cards make sense but yellow?

A straight elbow no matter what angle you look at and the referee gives a yellow after reviewing the video ??...Terrible response to an obvious red card incident. How in any manner whatsoever does elbowing somebody in the face constitute just a yellow card. This really is nothing negative for the VAR introduction just an illustration of the terrible quality of the referee for this final. The evidence was there to clearly see and duly respond to....he just ducked out of giving a red.

Am I the only person that agrees with the yellow card? I understand people's call for red. But in the ref's defense the player places his arm in a position and doesn't 'throw' the elbow. This situation is very much like a player elbowing another during a header, contact is made, possibly vicious, but intent is hard to determine.

Now I know he intended everything that happened. I am not being naive. What I'm saying is it is consistent...and I have done the same thing protecting myself in a coming together at that angle.

This is fucking stupid. Players shouldn't be able to appeal for VAR.

Why go with some half arsed, ill thought out VAR?

It's sent the VAR debate backwards massively.

No one knows what the fuck is going on, one game a definite penalty was not awarded and they say the VAR didn't get used as the players didn't appeal and another the VAR officials just stop the game (to the bemusement of the crowd and players who have no idea what the fuck is going on)

I understand that this is a work in progress but If they seriously thought this was a potential working model of the system they need to fire those in charge and start again...

What part of the VAR process was at fault ? The problem is the referee's interpretation of what he sees via the system...not the actual footage itself. If the ref clearly (and I mean absolutely clearly) sees a player commit a red card offence on the screen and chooses to ignore it how is that the fault of the 'system' ??....How many of us watching would have totally approved of everything that ensued if he had reviewed the incident and then sent the guy off ??......just a thought.

The main bone of contention is whether the VAR is actually used or not....players appeal to the referee and that is sometimes like asking him to give out a card..not welcome...I agree that perhaps each side should be allowed a number of 'appeals' or 'challenges' per game maybe to resolve that.
This does not solve the real problem....the decision to review the footage or not....who should that be the responsibility of ??. How about the people sitting in front of the monitors ??...if they see something that conflicts with the decision made by the referee concerning an incident then they contact him and ask that he reviews their coverage before reaffirming his interpretation was the right one. ??

That right there was classic Emre Can. Rolling around over nothing and lying on the ball. THAT is why I've said repeatedly that I absolutely hate him. What a ****. Play the damn game the right way. No silly antics prolonging shit. Get the fuck up and play the game.
