What you won't have seen on tv was medel goading him and getting sly kicks in. It started very early when medel followed through a tackle and Messi felt he left something in. From then on they were sniping at each other and the ref did nothing to contain it. He should have pulled them aside and said anymore and I'll book you both.

Under the new laws, the Peru penalty shouldn't have been given. But I think the ref also knew the world might end if he reversed that call against Brazil after the shit with Argentina.

It's a disgrace the corruption going on right now in Conmebol.
Brazil has the best team. I don't know why they felt they needed to buy the referees.
Even former players like Rivaldo are ashamed

Today's last penalty for Brazil is ridiculous. Clear shoulder to shoulder. They even awarded it after watching the replay on VAR

Really? Peru was given a PK that was clearly wrong in the new laws and the ref sent off Gabriel Jesus for a soft second yellow. If anything he was going out of his way to be seen as making calls against Brazil.

What new rule?? The penalty for Peru was crystal clear. It should've been given without VAR.
In fact you are the first person I've seen complaining about that. Not even the brazilians did
Gabriel Jesus second YC was a charge with his elbow. Clear yellow card

And the last penalty for Brazil was the most ridiculous decision of the whole tournament.

Even Rivaldo stated that Brazil has the best team, that they shouldn't need the help from the referees.

This was the most dodgy Copa America I can remember

This is straight from IFAB's presentation on the new LOTG.

And this is the image from the Brazil match.

And here's the LOTG text -

"...it is not usually an offence if the ball touches a player’s hand/arm:
• when a player falls and the hand/arm is between the body and the ground to
support the body, but not extended laterally or vertically away from the body"

The VAR called the ref over because it is factually not a PK in the new laws. But all hell would have broken loose had the ref reversed it so he stuck with the decision. This generally was considered handball in the previous versions of the laws so this is actually an example where the law was relaxed.
