Agree with all of that and just to pick up on this point, it wouldn't surprise me if they keep Vince in for the day/nighter rather than give Livingstone a Baptism of Fire so to speak. Then if/when Vince doesn't produce the goods they will shove Livingstone in on a flat wicket in the second Test.
After all that has gone before and considering the viewpoint of those not amongst the England set up I feel that it is counter productive. Vince's number is up for the large percentage.

Would rather they insert Livingstone now. Personally Vince is a better shorter format of the game type player, I still feel sorry for him ( course I will) but this team needs to start figuring shit out now as they build toward the Ashes next year.

MCG has been given an official warning over the state of the pitch for the Boxing day test. Fair enough too. Looks like they just avoided a fine due to when the new rules and demerit system was ratified. Would have been a fine and demerit points.

In fairness (not something I usually give you Aussie B's...), it's not a great deal different to the pitches that we prepare at Lords every summer, lifeless, not likely to produce much of a result etc. The Boxing Day Test is the money spinner for you lot in the same was it is for us at Lords, maximising value etc.

Where the hell was Mark Wood during the tests? Good pace and a bit of aggression. I like it.
He'd a long term injury which he's not long come back from and the powers that be decided he wasn't ready for a return to the test team. Took him one over to show what we missed. Plunkett didn't do badly either.

I'm intrigued to see how England can blow it from here.

It's almost as if we're going to win.

Me's confused.

That was more like it, Wood genuinely hurried them today, bowled faster than he has for some time. I think Ian Healey needs to be put out to pasture, thought that when they were going along at five an over and we had three wickets we were just about still in the game o_O even though the stats show we get 300+ more often than not nowadays. Also when we were 200 for 2 said we couldn't afford to lose a wicket:facepalm:

Also I appreciate it's his nickname but did anyone else notice that every sentence kp said to Mark Taylor he called him tubs, for to the point where i was thinking alright mate we know it's what they call him but do you say other people's name every sentence? Then had a spell commentating with mark Nicholas and barely said his name.

Anyway, well played Roy, wood, plunkett and root plus mention to Alli for his economical figures.

Incredible level of f**ktardery from the ECB. Either ban him or work on the principle that he is innocent until proven guilty. Don’t f**king half ban him before charges and play him once he has been

I think it's the right call. The f**ktardery is our legal process which is as slow as f**k. Is this really how long this sort of thing takes in this country? It must be a fairly clear cut case.

It's the right call now but I suppose it's frustrating that it wasn't the call made back when this first started.

Honest question. Do you think it would have made a difference to the test team? Someone would have had to make way for him, so I'm guessing it would have been Malan?
Stokes would be the first name on the team sheet after Root I would have thought. He would have offered some steel you missed, and that bit of mongrel that was lacking. The first couple of tests were in the balance at times, would have been interesting with him there.
I think England made a very poor call on this one. Innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around.
