I would have Stokes in all day, he's a game changer with bat and ball, you don't leave them out because someone has come in and had a good game.

Don't know who i would leave out but luckily it's not down to me. (probably be one of Curran, Broad or Woakes but possibly a Batsman with Pope being the unlucky man which would give us a crazy amount of bowling options)

As for being in the right frame of mind, on the eve of the trial he was playing in the first test and that worked out OK for him...

Ben Stokes will make his England return in the third Test against India at Trent Bridge on Saturday - four days after being found not guilty of affray.

All-rounder Stokes, 27, missed the second Test at Lord's while he was on trial for his involvement in a fracas in Bristol in September.

After being cleared on Tuesday, he replaces Sam Curran in the team.

As both Woakes and Broad, and even to a lesser extent Curran, all played their parts in “changing the game,” I’d say that leaving Stokes out is the right thing to do.

That doesn't say much for Sam Curran does it?
He has been very influential so far.

Poor decision especially when the skipper said the following:
Sam has bought something very different to the attack," said Root. "He's done an exceptional job throughout the series.”

I think you have to ask yourself "Is Sam Curran better than Ben Stokes?" If the answer is no, then replacing Curran with Stokes makes the team stronger.

Anyhoo, I have put a sneaky tenner on India, so expect a stonking England win.

I would hey is a better bowler "potentially" Arnie, but not the better all rounder. Alot to look forward to in the future with him and the West Indian import you are going to have.

And the sooner the better. Time for a rule change if you ask me!

Another England collapse in progress.
Really need a shake up to the batting line up

We just can't bat. If any opposition sets a decent total we just crumble. No discipline, no spine. Top and middle order too often nowhere near good enough.

Too many no 6/7 shot playing batsmen. I’d argue only root is a top order batsman good enough to be playing in the top 5. We need a trott type to bat 3/4, fuck I’d even give bell another go at this rate

I was going to post a short sentence about all you knee-jerking moaners, but by the time I'd finished typing it we'd lost another three wickets.

So, as you were!

Definitely. And Root/others making that Stokes decision was very questionable.

Personally think they should have banned him until the Winter, doesn't set a good example at all to Curran and others. If it's just based on performance alone and not behaviour, then Root needs to question himself before dropping others. When's the last time he made 100?

I agree, we have far too many shot playing batsman in the team. Cook is still a good player and frankly, there doesn't seem anyone better to replace him.

I personally think Bayliss needs to go or just become the one day coach. His test record hasn't been great and we don't look like we are improving. I would personally play defensively sound batsman in the top three with Root at 4 and Vince or Malan at 5. Bairstow would be number 6 and Stokes at number 7 (not bothered by Stokes wanting to bat at 6). Woakes would probably be fantastic a number 8 and I would play Bess or Leach with Anderson and Broad following up.

I think Burns needs to have an extended run in the test team (at least two years for me).

Haseeb Hameed needs to come back into this team. He’s without any shadow of a doubt the only player in the CC that will consistently leave everything outside the line of off stump.

His scoring rate is incredibly slow but that’s exactly what this team needs.

I’m sick to death of watching these players needlessly swiping at the ball and being caught behind. It’s so amateurish.

Hameed hasn't been able to buy a run all season and can't even get into Lancashire's first team.
