We lost last season's ODI opener against Scotland, so this is an improvement :D

It'll be interesting to see how Archer does in the next week or two, yesterday was a bit disappointing but they won't be judging him on that.

Good to see how Curran, especially, responded to the challenge of Archer, but I think the latter is going to be part of the squad if not the 1st XI come the World Cup.

Not so Foakes, I'm afraid. Brilliant stumping, excellent batting, motm, but with Buttler and Bairstow to come back in, is there room for him?

I take it back, watching him live now Archer seems to get it through effortlessly.

After the festival of footy today I didn't even know there was a T20 game...

Jesus! Buttler's fun to watch. Devastatingly destructive when he gets in. Just battered Pakistan for 110 off 55, great to watch.

Tom Curran having a good match with the ball today. With archer definitely in the World Cup squad for me, who misses out? Plunket? Willey? Tough call and whoever gets left out can consider themselves very unlucky

Trouble is, on their day each is very good and takes wickets with something different. On their off day they're all quite expensive.

I suspect it might be Plunkett, whose occasional 90 mph ball, and steep bounce, is covered by Archer and Wood.

Or Curran, who seems to get a lot of wickets caught on the boundary, which hints less at guile than good fortune.

Or Willey.

It’s a tough one but I agree that plunket will probably miss out.
Think you are being a bit harsh on Curran as he gets a lot of wickets caught on the boundary as he is clever with his slower balls and variations imo.
Willey gets in for me (pun intended ?) as a horses for courses pick if we play on a grey overcast day in swinging conditions.
Starting 11 I would go with archer, wood and woakes/Curran/willey depending on conditions as the quicks

Mo what are you doing?
Such a frustrating batsman. He has real talent but plays some really stupid shots at times

Think it’s becoming incredibly obvious who gets dropped for Archer now.

Moeen is a total liability with bat and ball. For such a technically gifted batsmen, he’s a total idiot.

If these are the kind of wickets this World Cup is going to be played on it's going to be pretty boring stuff TBH.

Curran not doing his chances of making the squad any harm with another very useful little cameo.

This Pakistani opening bat brings back some (bad) memories...

Strip bar in Amsterdam. Only when she took her pants off that you heard the cries of "fucker's a man!"

England WC squad announced

Eoin Morgan (capt), Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Jos Buttler (wk), Tom Curran, Liam Dawson, Liam Plunkett, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, James Vince, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood.

Denley and Willey miss out. Feel sorry for Willey, but someone had to miss out for Archer.

I think that's the squad I would have gone for. Denly isn't good enough to act as spare spinner, and Curran edged out Willey for me, though it was a tough one.

Really surprised at Willey missing out, gives us a left armer with variation who can move the white ball and he can bat.
Personally if we felt we had to bring in archer for raw pace I’d have chopped wood.
Do we really need three spinners seeing as we’ve got root as well? Hope the clubs have been given a briefing as to how we want the wickets to play as well!
