From an English point of view the only team I fear is India and I think it’s important to avoid them in the semifinals especially at a turning pitch at old Trafford. The only way this could happen is if England/ India finish in 1 and 4 positions which I think is unlikely.
My guess England vs Australia and India New Zealand semis with England beating India in the final ?
I reckon you might not even make the semis

so for all the hype over the last 3 years, we’ve come to a home WC and managed victories against the Afghans, the worst SA team in years, and a shockingly inconsistent West Indies.

awfull.

You say that but India’s performance vs Afghanistan was the worst of the tournament from any side, if Afghanistan had more than 2 batsmen they’d have won easily
I doubt we took Afghanistan very seriously but we took it seriously enough not to embarrass ourselves. I think it showed we had the mental strength to protect a low score and make sure we won. The one I am disappointed about is not playing NZ would liked an early indicator on that one.

doesn’t matter in the slightest, and not sure what your point is. you don’t extra points for winning big, you don’t lose points for winning by the skin of your teeth.

this is england’s third poor game.

My point was that it’s not a guarantee who wins the India England game because they’re not exactly cruising through their games, it’s probably a whoever bats first wins game

ah OK, sorry, I didn’t get that.

You could be right. I’d think Eng would have to bat first to win that game. and of course hope Roy and Stokes are fully fit.

the main problem for Eng will be confidence is shot, and extra pressure of probably having to win.

India have been on form, the only game that Im really disappointed was that the NZ game was called off.
