Talk about Smith "hoping" to be fit but i don't think he should be allowed to play.

They have said he was concussed (by asking for a concussion replacement) and the ICC guidelines say that a concussed player should not play again for 5 days.

Which would rule him out of the first two days of the third test.

Either he was concussed as claimed or they got a replacement they shouldn't have been allowed, can't have it both ways.

Quite agree. In a situation like this, wise heads should remember that while it's an important game coming up, it is still only a game. Not worth the risk.

Just on Olly Stone, with his lower back stress fracture (done for the rest of the season) I would want to see the selectors continue to look to bring bowlers through. If it's anything like Mason Cranes he'll have a lot of hard work in front of him considering his action as well. Fucking shitty blow though for him.

On another note, I hope to fuck they manage Archer moving forward, Root bowling him into the ground isn't the way forward. He looked shattered Sunday evening.

Smith's out of next test.
That makes it a bit more interesting. I don't like the guy for reasons I've gone into too many times but he's a top player and will be missed but they still have a few decent players and any one of them could hit form out of the blue. I still don't think it's going to be very easy and the game could still go either way.

Three tests left - two up north in late summer, with some dodgy cooler weather probable, hostile locals (and not just to Aussies!), fading light in the evenings and the glaciers moving south. These next two are our best chance to reclaim the urn.
They always look more at home in London for some reason. A bit like us going up to Queensland, where we seldom do well.

For all we know that could be the best thing for Him/Australia

He could be psychologically fragile as soon as Archer comes on to bowl, we don't know, maybe a week of Therapy (physical and mental) will mean by the fourth test he is totally over it and ready to be the ungetoutable fucker he always is...

Still, that next over from Archer to Smith is going to be... erm, interesting :playful:

I think Archer needs his own category, wickets taken is fine but batsmen Hit/Maimed should be a category just for him, he's already wracked up quite a number in his short career.

In 30 years of watching cricket I’ve never seen a bowler hit the batsmen so much, they can’t seem to avoid his bouncers
It’s how close to the stumps he bowls, he is not just quick he bowling at you dead straight. Scary

He also seams the ball back into the right handers, so the ball follows them as they are trying to sway away

Don't know how they managed it, but the Indian's last summer for us refused to play at the Gabba. It is traditionally our first test, but they managed to mark it out of the four match series. How does that happen that a touring team decides where to play? Certainly would never happen over there.

The BCCI run things dude what with tv ratings and money so you can guarantee anything that gives them an advantage they’ll get.
I vaguely remember hearing something about them trying to change the Dukes ball the last time they toured here!

That would seriously not surprise me. They think because they have the biggest worldwide audience they get what they want. Stuff em

Someone told me the other day that they own T20. Not just IPL, but all 20/20 match rights. So any league in the world that plays T20 (Big Bash, our very own Blast etc) have to pay them royalties!

Guess that's why we've brought in the 100?

Never watched an IPL game and I doubt I ever will.
Good call on the 100!

\My brother went to an IPL game earlier this year and while he did enjoy it his biggest recommendation was to spend a few extra quid on decent seats as the crowds were a bit manic.

IPL is brilliant...Indian crowds are fucking mental!
Just has little interest for me not unlike the MLS and Tennis.
The crowds are a big downer for me. Reminds me of Saturday night ITV on steroids. The Barmy Army is too rowdy for me.
I really like Baseball but I dare not watch any more sport as it will end in divorce.

I find myself much more invested if one of the English lads is playing, which is quite often.
Baseball is barely even a sport.
