Seven down now. I was hoping the game would keep me occupied until we kick off but that's not looking likely now

Dammit - an hour and a half to think about the game and the cricket was helping me to put it to the back of my mind. However, what a day's cricket we've had.

NZ are shit

You just know anything above 200 is going to be too much for them
That's a bit harsh. They've got some cracking players and although ranked No8 in the world pretty much everyone who plays against them acknowledges that they are in for a tough game. Their new captain McCullum seems to want to play in a way that really suits the players they have and it wouldn't suprise me if they started to get a few more positive results in Test cricket. Much like the West Indies, I think they are on the up.

Having said that, we should be doing better batting against them :)

Southee is a class bowler, and Taylor & McCullum are devastating batsmen on their day.

Cricket always depends on individual performances within the team and while England have better players en masse and therefore more chance of finding the winning performance from someone it's disrespectful and wrong to suggest that NZ can't compete.

Any team struggles over here when the conditions are right, other countries just don't experience the weather we have over here. I had a game yesterday afternoon, and although we don't rank up there with test teams, i faced a bowler swinging it like a boomerang. So much so he got taken off as he couldn't control the swing he was getting.

First thing they say at Lords is look up.

We nipped McCullum early twice, but when he gets in he can rack them up quickly.

Yep, no great surprise that as soon as the cloud came over, we collapsed from a seemingly comfortable position with Root and Trott. It just so happens we have two of the best bowlers in the world for those conditions.
