Thommo and Lillee played the game for keeps. Tell me Freddie Trueman didn't feel the same way. Don't be a hypocrite. As for the underarm, it was fucking wrong, but, at the time within the rules. Greg Chappells lowest point on an otherwise amazing career.
Not sure our Fred would have tried to boost his manhood on the Magic Roundabout though. You’re in danger of defending the indefensible here.

Bodyline was devised to combat the extraordinary brilliance of the Don. From my recollection, no one was hurt nor was this the objective.
The objective was most certainly to injure. Your doing yourself an injustice to think otherwise. It wasn't just Bradman. Jardine wanted his bowlers to hurt the Australian batsmen. Do your research. There has always been plenty of feeling in Ashes matches. We hate you as much as you hate us. Let it be known i have no problem with going hard. A couple of short pitched deliveries is fine. Thats whats allowed now.But over after over. In an age without head protection, that just cowardice. You couldn't beat us and resorted to low level behaviour. Maybe that's why Lillee and Thommo had no problem scaring the crap out of your batsmen.
And for what its worth, we Aussies really rate a ton of your ex players. Stand up men. Bumbles, Beefy, Bob Willis, David Gower, Alec Stewart...all very well respected here.

Really hope this is the end of David Warner in international cricket. The guy is just so disliked (All down to his own making!) and always seems to have always pushed the rules to the absolute limit. This has been coming for a long time with regards to him. Smith isn’t much better and it has to be said darren lehmann needs to be looked at as well I find it impossible to believe he has nothing to do with this. Over past 5/6 years he has been in charge and molded a very dislikable team with Smith and Warner being the worst but Lyon isn’t far behind and been involved in some really unsavoury incidents over past year or so as well. If Cricket Australia are seriously going to act on this blatant cheating then I hope they get rid of Darren Lamen and David Warner and suspend Smith for a long period time and when he comes back he is on an absloute final warning regarding his behaviour. As for Bancroft he should be given a suspension as well and final warning.

Will Alastair Cook play in in the 1st Test against Pakistan on May 24?

I suspect not. Quitting in the middle of a series, or even in the middle of a test summer, doesn't seem a very Cook way of doing things. And if he plays in that 1st test, he probably has to play in all 7 over the summer.

There's never a good time to go, but England's return from NZ may be the cleanest opportunity he gets. I think he should probably take it.

As i said before, I know people who know Boof Lehmann personally. He is not this sort of person. I will find it hard to believe he is involved. I must ask all you biased poms... why are you saying ban Warner and suspend Smith. Smith is more responsible as Captain. Fact is you hate Warner because he is what you want in your team. Dont worry, Stokes is close That bit of mongral. Face it every team wants it. South Africa has DeKock (he has enflamed this big time at the start with his comments on Warners wife. Thats taking things to far) India with Kholi.Every country hates these players because they can change a game so quickly. Smith must be banned. He should never play for us again. He alone must take the lions share of the responsibility.

How can Smith and Warner possibly continue to represent their country in international cricket ? Regardless of their talent, no supporter wants cheats in their team ruining the spirit of the sport.

If it was Root and Anderson i'd be calling for their heads too, and that wouldn't just be the captaincy.

The Aussies should take some comfort in establishing just how bad they actually were at cheating.

It suggests both that they have not been doing this recently nor should they do so again.

Not so much Post truth as Post-it truth.

It was comically bad. Maybe Margot Robbie could make a film about this series for posterity.

Bodyline was devised because there were no leg side fielding restrictions. Bowling fast and short down the leg side caused the batsmen to play through a packed leg side field. Of course it was dangerous and intimidating but that was of secondary importance to its effectiveness. England played to its strength and used the laws that existed at that time. Be careful when you write “we Aussies”. We don’t all think like you.

To quote your highlighted part...i wrote "And for what its worth, we Aussies really rate a ton of your ex players. Stand up men. Bumbles, Beefy, Bob Willis, David Gower, Alec Stewart...all very well respected here."
I take it you dont rate them? Fair enough. You talk like an expat though. Whatever.
You can put any spin on Bodyline you like. It was an attack at the body. My beef with what you said about Lillee and Thommo relate to their feeling of ashes cricket. Don't attack them when the Poms (correction, Douglas Jardine) made an attack on Australian batsmen, and when Bert Oldfield was struck, Jardine's comment was "well bowled Harold". My point is both side's have had their moments.
As an Aussie im hurting, so I'll leave it there. I've made my feelings well known in this thread, and will take all the shit that there is to be thrown. I'm just done with it all.

Australia just went from 57-0 to 107-10

After match interviews might be interesting.
