He's clearly hated by a lot of people in the game, I saw Trotty's tweet, Michael Vaughan also did one which was basically saying how he felt sorry for Smith that it had brought him down, and felt sorry for Bancroft that he was badgered into it as the junior player, he then signed off with "the other bloke I'm not bothered about..."

Smith isn't suitable to Captain Australia. I'm not just talking about the events of this week, but the way he carries on, from the DRS 'brain fade' when he looked to the balcony for help with a review to calling other players cheats, his giggling at the Bairstow headbuttgate press conference, just in general, so many poor choices, poor conduct and 'laddish' disrespectful behaviour. He doesn't carry himself in the right manner IMO. It seems to me that he's lurched from one thing to another, never really learning, never really appreciating what his got and his responsibilities to his position as captain and poor judgement until finally the chickens came home to roost.

As people have said, it was uncomfortable to watch and I didn't take any pleasure out of it although it did cross my mind that he's not giggling now. He'll be back for the Ashes but I don't see how he can ever lead the team again although I'd totally not be surprised if he did. This is going to be rough on him for a long time but (and I don't like him at all) he should certainly be allowed to play again.

Warner on the other hand................He's not suitable to walk amongst decent folk. A carbuncle on the backside of humanity.

For sure the main thing that stopped me feeling "too" sorry for him was how him and Bancroft behaved in the press conference after stitching Bairstow up with the headbutt nonsense. That wasn't how captains behave.

As said by Simon Jordan (of all people!) Smith is a chump - he should've come out and owned this, said "yep, you caught me - i tried to gain an advantage in an illegal fashion and it was a bad call. I'll be gone for a year now and when I come back I'll do my best to make up for the shame I bought on the International team. I'm very sorry" then he'd have at least retained a tiny bit of respect for admitting it and accepting his punishment rather than this crocodile tears bullshit.
