England would still win by an innings and something!!

Maybe we should just play the one day team in the tests and tell them to play it as a 50 over match. We might post some better totals.
Hales and Rashid are only white ball this season, personnel wise though it’s not far off the test team.
Made for some great viewing however as good as the performance was the oppo weren’t at the races.
It feels like we’re playing an Aussie B team at the moment and that’s really taken the gloss off the result and performance.

I’d love to see Roy given a go in the test side, his technique is excellent.

Failing that, I think Bairstow would be a great test opener.

Given the frailties at the top of the order and wanting to take the game to the oppo JB does seem to have the right temperament to do it, not so sure about Roy though as he does get himself out more than the oppo actually get him out.
I think opening the batting and keeping might be too much at test level but given our lack of options over the last couple of years I think JB is definitely worth a punt.

Let bairstow open and give buttler the gloves. Almost seems too obvious!

Nice to see little old Australia being a little bit competitive today....although at the moment you'd fancy this England side to chase down any target.

Interesting selection dilemma for England when Stokes and Woakes are back and fully fit! I'd be tempted to go for something like...

Bairstow
Roy
Hales
Root
Morgan
Buttler
Stokes
Ali
Woakes
Rashid
Wood

You've got Wood, Woakes and Stokes to provide the pace, then Rashid, Ali, and Root with the spin. Alright, Roots is a part time bowler, but he's more than capable of putting his fair share of decent overs, especially against teams who do struggle against spin.

That said, maybe that team is a bit top heavy on batsmen, but I'd fancy them to set massive scores and chase down most totals...

Alternatively,

Bairstow
Roy
Root
Morgan
Buttler
Stokes
Ali
Woakes
Rashid
Plunkett
Wood

The Aussie “sledging”and general nasty behaviour has been going on for years long before warner was about.
The worrying thing is that Warner being such an obnoxious turd seems to be deflecting from Smith's ****ness. Warner didn't have his arm up Smith's arse working him like a ventriloquist's dummy when he classlessly sat and smirked his way through several Ashes press conferences and for a while Smith's behaviour was totally unbecoming of the captain of any team let alone the Australian cricket team.

So while I hope Warner never plays again and Smith eventually comes back, if he ever captains them again it's a fucking disgrace IMO. Warner 'took' Bancroft with him and maybe Lehmann, but Smith? Nah. Fish faced ****.

It’s in the Australian nature.
The same nature breeds winners in their sport and they punch above their weight for a relatively small population but they have no class or decency when playing sport imo
