I've done my fair share of slagging off the English team this summer..but that stand between Cook & Root was the highlight of the summer for me. 2 players showing their full talent like I remembered them doing so many times in the past. That session flew past..one of the great cricket moments for me.

Anderson now level with Glenn Mcgrath as the all time leading wicket taker (fast bowler)

What are their respective averages though ... ;)

I like Jimmy Anderson. He has a bit of bastard to him, which i think fast bowlers need. However I think McGrath is a class above Jimmy as he could bowl well and get good returns all over the world, in any conditions. From what I have seen of Anderson he is generally very good in England but quite disappointing every time he's been to Australia.

He was very good in 10/11 series and even in the last series in Australia, he bowled tightly. McGrath and others are better bowlers but I don't think that should take anything away from Jimmy Anderson. He also has over 200 wickets away from England.

How could anyone watch or listen to this series and think Test cricket is done for?

Great for Cook and Jimmy Anderson. And that ball from Rashid! It doesn't have the aura of Warne's Ball of the Century, but it's an absolute crackerjack!

Anyway, onward to Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon)...hopefully they won't have to get 1000 brown M&Ms for Stokesy. Or beat a shop owner and his son with their own shoes.

He's got that in his locker, but he just has to work on a stock ball that he can control.

T20 finals day. Somerset lifting the title on top of a convincing Spurs win would be a most beautiful Saturday.

England call up Rory Burns, Joe Denly and Olly stone ...

Joe Root (Yorkshire) captain
Moeen Ali (Worcestershire)
Jimmy Anderson (Lancashire)
Jonny Bairstow (Yorkshire) wk
Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire)
Rory Burns (Surrey)
Jos Buttler (Lancashire)
Sam Curran (Surrey)
Joe Denly (Kent)
Keaton Jennings (Lancashire)
Jack Leach (Somerset)
Ollie Pope (Surrey)
Adil Rashid (Yorkshire)
Ben Stokes (Durham)
Olly Stone (Warwickshire)
Chris Woakes (Warwickshire)
Feel a bit sorry for Dom Bess, as he didn't do anything wrong, and looked useful with the bat for someone so young. Quite a young team so there is planning for the future.

Keaton Jennings!...….....arrrrgggghhhhhh!!!
Not sure what Denly can offer either.

He's certainly one for the future, but presumably just behind the three spinners they've chosen.

Olly Stone sure does look the business..on a slowish Sri Lankan turner. He will be a monster in Australia & South Africa.
