Embarrassing this teams batting needs a real shake up, I would drop 3/4 of them

The team lacks a seriously gritty bastard who can just stay in, regardless of the batting conditions. We’ve never truly replaced Trott, in that regard.

The team is just full of shit bastards who want to play shots.

I do think Root needs to give up the captaincy - but not sure there’s a great deal of other options. seems like there’s about 8 or 9 spots up for grabs in this team. although again, not sure there’s much coming through!

they do. although when they tried Compton people moaned he was too slow to score. some even criticised Cooky in that regard.

we obviously don’t have the batting coming through in this country.

Fuck off Bayliss, the experiment is over. Cook to take over as interim coach for the 3rd Test.

Absolutely perplexes me that the English county divisions are producing fuck all in terms of international test standard cricketers, but the ECB’s priority is some bullshit revenue grabbing 100 ball game

Wow! Done in 3 days. Lost the series in 7. I think England have won one session in those 7 days.....Just wow!

Well played Windies. Pretty pathetic England.

Charlotte Edwards told me (not even joking) that the 100 has purely been dreamt up because the BBC wanted to show cricket again...but stipulated they only had a 90 minute slot.

As for County Cricket, when we play all our 4 day games in temperatures of 10 degrees and with everyone wearing 4 layers and the most effective bowlers being 79mph dobbers on green tops, we can’t complain when the players we throw in look like children when they face anyone bowling upwards of 87mph.

We need people like Roy and Hales in this side now, purely because they are the only ****s used to facing bowling up there with the best in the world.

This team needs four tough gritty blockers at the top of the order. People who will play ugly, bore everyone to tears and grind the opposition into the dust. Root can go back to No.5 and sort his batting out, the others who want to hit a shot a ball can come in from 6 down.

As has been said too many times, the ECB need to sort county cricket. Whether they care enough about it remains to be seen, but if they do there needs to be acceptance that they aren't producing test quality players and to have a serious revamp.

It wont happen though, in the summer we'll win enough games and all will be declared ok again. The media sycophants will tell them how great they are, until the next time it happens. I just foresee the standard of test cricket declining further tbh.

completely embarrassing.

but root and co. will trot out the same tired old lines withiut addressing the real issues. they seem to have some mental block in that they really believe their own hype.

roy and hales need putting in. and you absolutely cannot have a specialist keeper at 8. buttler or bairstow can keep.

After the first match the talk was all about how England have always bounced back from poor performances and we should let them prove it here. But that was just as awful with the bat and they ought to stop insulting the fans for having negative opinions and actually start looking inwards. If they made the effort and came up short of answers, then fair enough but to be in the exact same position after NZ, Ashes and now here is just crazy really.

We'll probably go and win the WC this year though so there's nothing wrong with the test team after all :(

"To win consistently we're going to have to find a solution to the top three. Is it different players? I'm not sure it is.

It's OK saying, "that's the way we play", but you've got to have different blueprints for how you play."

Says Sir Alastair. Nice of him to notice, shame it didn't happen when he was part of, and for a lot of the time leading, the team...

Only the other dozen or so issues for them to work out now.

Id settle for two blockers whod last 20 overs for no runs right now. Astonishing, they seem to have forgotten what the "test" part of test match means.

Broad/Stokes/Anderson bowled well so you have to give them credit for their batting although they rode their luck at times. Our batting is much worse than their bowling is good though

They bowled ok but the West Indies Bowled much more balls that were hiting the stumps. Our bowlers bowled far too much balls that that could either leave or miss

Apologies for the hijack with Cptn Cook but I’m hoping he’s not free!
Please have a look at the link, Harry is the year above my lad at Ampthill and it’s so sad.
