If you can find the feed, might be a cracking finish to the Hampshire V Kent game - Kent need 150 odd of of 17 overs.

That's if you support either of these teams or care about county cricket that is ;)

I was not able to watch the WC Final but some press are saying that England was the benefactor of a major hometown decision that awarded them a couple of extra runs despite being a breach of the rules.

Did anyone watch it and if so was that true?

Not quite. England hit the ball and ran for two and on the way back the ball accidentally clipped the bat of Ben Stokes after it was thrown back by the kiwis and went for a further 4 so 6 in total.

However when the ball was thrown both runners had not crossed. I can’t be bothered finding the rule again but the rule talks about the ‘act’ but doesn’t really define if the act was the throw of the ball clipping the bat.

If viewed as the throw it should have been one run, if the clipping of the bat then 2 but this happened at insane speed. It probably would not have been mentioned had the game not been tied after 50 overs.

Marginal things happen all the time in cricket and so luck does come into play but this is hardly like ball tampering or even an obvious screw up.

Probably written by an Aussie, it's hit them harder than New Zealand, bless them.

Some of the comments you read on the net are like the England players bribed or ball tampered. Some fans have literally melted as bad as Liverpool fans after a defeat to United.

Kiwis by contrast just seem to accept they were unlucky in an even game.

Strangely enough, they were British publications which is why I was not sure on accuracy. If it was just a few Southern Hemisphere papers and bloggers it would be a no brainer

Indian supporters seem to be personally affronted by the decision too...

All very bizarre.

See its shit like this that make me firmly believe you have more interest in us than we really do in you.
We have more Ashes than you, more Rugby world cups than you (oh thats right, you dont have one) More Wimbledon titles in the Pro era, and yes, more swimming everything. As for football, well yes you have one World title, and we are unlikely to ever get one.
Just some perspective, your population 55.62m (England, not UK) and ours 25.09m.

So take your "shit at all sports" and ram it down your throat.

Sorry guys but I'm pretty even on most things but don't disrespect our history.

We don't have a rugby world cup...? Did you just phrase that really badly? :ROFLMAO:

As soon as England/GB started funding their sports properly and acting professionally about 15/20 years ago all the previous Aussie "dominance" disappeared almost overnight as the new generation of athletes and sportspeople came through the system.

It's all very well being good at sports which are only played by a handful of countries - at anything truly international Australia are shit. There hasn't been a decent Aussie tennis player in a decade - and why bring up Wimbledon specifically?

Brits suffer from an inferiority complex such that their press was always fawning over Australia when they should've been questioning why their sportsmen weren't successful. Now of course they're funded and managed properly and the worm has turned. Look at the last 15 years of Olympic medal tables - GB has gone from being 20 medals behind Australia in 2004 to winning three times the amount of medals as Australia in 2016.

There's absolutely no interest in Australia or their sport in the UK - literally none. The only time it comes up outside of playing against you directly is when England/GB are successful in something and the Aussies feel the need to pipe up and start crowing about something which has nothing to do with them.

They'd be better off getting back in their box because the days of fake Australian dominance are well and truly over.

I agree with 99% of this and am always up for Aussie bashing but I've seen criticism of their tennis abilities a couple of times now and just need to point out the number one womens player is Australian.

and arguably the british number one

Indeed she is - half English though! Both of them! Barty is actually half native as well which is pretty great.

Also I'll be honest - wasn't really including women's sport in the list - bit naughty

I'm genuinely shocked to see that Joffra Archer has not been picked for the training squad for the Ashes :wtf:. With Mark Wood out injured for the first two tests WTF are the selectors thinking?

Archer's injured as well. He picked up a side strain during the WC so they're letting him rest for a while.

Oh okay. Thank fuck for that . I thought the arse had fallen out of reality for a minute there and the wife had put my entire stash of hallucinogens in my morning shreddies.

Um, 2003? England beat Australia in the Rugby World Cup final (Hosted by Australia and New Zealand) or was that removed from Aussie history?

Struth! You been watching too much Home and Away.

In all seriousness now I'm not a raving pissed idiot, let's have the Ashes. Will be a cracker of a series.
May the best team over 5 tests win.
