ebspurs on COYS said:

I have received a text from an impeccable source saying that Tottenham have made 40 employees including office staff redundant on compensation agreements.

Cant think why we would need to embark on such a huge cost cutting exercise... wondered what people's thoughts are on this..

This person also said that there are rumours in City professional circles that the club is being sold to the Kuwaitis but as I said these are rumours

Windrushspur replied:

I just text someone who works for the club and they said its true but not as many as being made out

I predict JJ will arrive at about 12:30 am to dismiss this.

Windrushspur followed up implying it seemed to be pretty routine and related to the training ground move

Ah ok, I would have thought a new improved facility with more technology etc would mean more staff rather than less. Unless they are upgrading staff??

Seems to marry up with the fact we delisted the company a while back, would make it far easier to sell.

Desperate for Levy to stay though, would be ridiculous to let him plan for years and then cull him only for new plans to start all over again.

More location - if this is related to closing Spurs Lodge facilities and staff do not want to go to Spurs new training ground then they get made redundant via a compromise agreement. Nothing to do with a takeover if this is the case (and in most takeovers staff tend to get made redundant after a takeiver not before)

Look's like we got a busy week ahead.....
wow, you got the pirlo gif in record time. joe hart's spreadeagled body makes the penalty look even classier.

times are a-changing, investors pumping in money to further their brand recognition and business interest elsewhere points to us securing funding for stadium and infrastructure. about time.

the spurs are on the up! COYS! ilwt.

Actually if a new company is due to take over then staff are offered to TUPE to the new company. If they dont want then they take the redundency offer... Ive just been through it myself and become something of a TUPE expert-ish...! Not sure if the same would apply to a football club but seeing as its still a company i would imagine it still applies... Just a thought as it would also imply that the sale is imminent...

I still finding it hard to believe that we will be sold, then again I never saw what's happening at City and Chelsea coming either....

Lets hope we can appoint a manager and secure JV by this time next week. That would be a good start....

From what I have read and heard any potential new owners are keen to keep Levy and Lewis is keen to keep him with him...whatever he chooses I think he has played a massive role in our clubs history. Scholar nearly killed us, Sugar saved us, Levy helped us rise again. Essentially if a takeover happens and he decides to take his leave from it all, a sabbatical if you will I think he will be missed and hope his tenure will be held in the high regard it deserves.

If the take over rumours are true, don't you think it's a bit odd that the incumbent owners would make such a massive decision to sack the manager?

Thats why i think it's probably bollocks. But really hope I'm wrong. It would be great to wake up one morning and find out we have been taken over by some gaziilionaire and we splash some serious cash!

One hypothetical is that maybe we were quite away down the line with potential new owners to the point of almost finalising and they didn't see Harry as the man to guide the club into a new era and got Levy to get rid so that they weren't the bad guys when they officially took over. Highly unlikely obviously but maybe not impossible.

Also if Levy does stay on as chairman then he would have made the decision regardless I guess

But this all hinges on and if we are being brought out at all, and it was hinted at earlier it may be more of a % investment rather than than buy out so that means all of the above is utter rubbish, which it was really - Sorry for wasting your time!

Just tried to visit RAWK to peruse their take on Gylfi, and my AVG blocked it, saying some sort of Java threat. Anyone else get that?
You're telling me you went onto a Liverpool website and while you were there someone tried to steal something from you??
What is the world coming to? ;)

Diffferent citcumstances. We know the Spurs Lodge training ground is closing and there will be a number of people (including people to wash playing kit, reception staff, office workers etc) who live locally and do nort want to communte to work at the new training ground. These people will be laid off via a compromise agreement.

TUPE applies when a business is transferred from one business entity (usually a company) to another to effect a change in ownership - not the case in closing Spurs Lodge and opening the new training facility somewhere else

I hope that whatever happens Levy is still chairman when we kick off the new season. I would probably be more upset about losing DL than I would be about losing Modric!

In DL we trust!

akqayid said that we arent selling outright. just an injection of investment to buy a % by a consortium.

Granted but as things stand we dont know if its the closure of Spurs Lodge or from another area of the club, or even confirmed numbers...
I just thought it might give some legs to the idea that the club could be being bought, change of ownership and all that jazz... Shot in the dark i guess, thanks for the clarification...

I'll shut up now ;)
