Why oh why are we still chasing LD? Anybody would think he is the best thing since sliced bread. If he is that feckin good, why is nobody else chasing him? Am I missing something? He has dropped down the pecking order for Brazil, Fred is now No. 1. His agent wants to give to Marseille. Is he DL love child?

If he was THAT good then we would have no chance anyway, so it's a moot point.

And two of the new academy guys are Kyle Walker-Peters and Joe Pritchard. What can I read into this, I wonder?
Can you expand a bit on this or am I just being a bit thick and not seeing something obvious?

i've only watched damiao on the odd occasion for brazil but it's not like he's been tearing it up so much for inter that we absolutely must sign him and throw £15m+ at them. 39 in 91 league/libertadores games, it's a nice record, not amazing. i hope we just scrap this move now, get bernard and villa or something.

Well Neymar was only 69 in 132 which is not far off Leandro's stats and his price tag was 3 times what we can afford.

Is Leandro as good as Neymar - NO, is he as good a player from Brazil as we can afford right now - YES.

We've not just cloned Bale but also Kyle Walker (with a little sprinkling of Martin Peters DNA too.) As for the other guy, fuck knows ;)

From all collected ITK it seems Damiao/Internacional want a transfer to take place, just his filth monkey agent the stumbling block.
For us to progress we simply must move on from this deal, if his agent continues to play silly buggers then we cannot keep getting strung along, if we move on to other targets, find buyers for Defoe/Dempsey and say 8 weeks down the line we find ourselves in a similar situation to the Lloris one, If nobody has put a reasonable bid in for Damiao, and both his agent and club are now wanting a move, then this should be the only time we bite again, can only see a deal happening under these circumstances... and by that time he will be bought as back up to Mario Gomez :sneaky:

I would think Levy has had his fair share of inteference in this one as usual too.

Not for one second saying the bloke's ability has decreased over the last couple of years, or that Baldini doesn't rate him. Just saying our interest in completing this ridiculously complicated deal has dwindled, and the player won't be at WHL come September. That certainly isn't 'balls'.

Not being in the CL is obviously a blow to our transfer dealings. But it isn't the be all and end all. We are a well financed club based in a fantastic city, playing in the most watched league in the world (in which we've finished in the top 5 for the past 4 seasons). We have one of the best training grounds in sport today, and we offer an exclusive - the chance to play alongside the worlds' fastest rising star in Gareth Bale. Attracting players is not the difficult part - getting deals over the line at the price clubs/players demand is.

I agree with everything you say especially getting deals done as we must be the slowest around but the comment about attracting players I slightly disagree with as lack of champions league and not being able to pay large coin will always see us less attractive than the others.
Most not all players granted what big wages and or champions league sad but true.

You assume yidio meant "world class", i have no doubt whatsoever we can attract quality players, not world class, but we are certainly dining from the next table down, 2 or 3 more Vertonghens and a Lloris and our squad is looking strong.. (y)

Problem being for us is yes we do have some good player's but at some point they will want to win things and or compete in UCL .
As it stands we can't seem to qualify for UCL cos we seem to blow it when under pressure to do so plus our record in cups has become a joke now in years gone by we would always seem to pick up a cup to keep us attractive and inline with the big boys.
But now we seem to fuck that up as well I think if I'm not mistaken we have lost six fa cup semis in s row that is not bad luck it's just wank and is a poor state of affairs.

There's more than one 'we' though; one is dead and buried (the Redknapp one) and the other has had one season to shape a squad and make an impact (Villas Boas).
That is why the coming season is so vital, Villas Boas has a clear run at things and we can cement ourselves as footballing equals at the top rank of English football if only we make a couple of choice signings. If we can achieve that then players aren't gonna want to leave for footballing reasons.

did neymar play as a striker? plus we know neymar has a lot in his game outside of scoring goals, what does damiao have?

Well I'm glad your confident as IMO the top three places are sorted city, chelsea and utd I think probably in that order.
Which leaves one spot for grabs arsenal I hate to say it are more attractive and again never fail to secure a top four position so in short nothing changes for me.

Gone a bit quiet about Baldini hasn't it? It's concerning me that we haven't appointed him yet. What are we waiting for?

That's naive.
Those 3 clubs all have new managers; no guarantee of success.
Doesn't matter what anyone else does, if we improve say 5 points then we'll be in that 4; maybe we might not even need to improve! Surely Villas Boas has that amount of improvement in him given a clear run, a settled system & a couple of players?
