This part of Hercules post is interesting....

"I believe we will make 1 statement signing, in the region of 50m-packaged up to look more. "

Any idea what this means? Are we talking clauses that will never be met? Could we be doing the same thing with Toby to make it look like we're getting more for him than we are? Hence the €80m valuation?

So judging from the latest ITK, we’re losing a player to a rival for £70m, and buying a player for around £50m which will make us ‘title contenders’. We surely need at least 3 £50m players to make us anywhere near that!?

We’re told that we’re not far from the top table, yet the best players are moving for much more than £50m these days.. I’m really struggling to see much in alignment at moment personally.

Also, if only United are interested now, why wouldn’t we wait until after the World Cup? A world class defender will be more in demand later in the window surely!? What’s the hurry?

I guess it's the injury concern. If he plays at the world cup and gets injured again the deals off.

Is Gards considered ITK on here anymore?

I take it to mean the fee will be 50 but with add-one it will be much higher. The higher amount will be what’s leaked to media?

The fact we don’t want to keep Toby should make this easier to take but it isn’t. Selling to Man Utd just doesn’t sit well with me, regardless of price. My Man Utd associates will be saying the usual ‘feeder club’ bollocks and will ignore the fact we’ve left him to rot on the bench for half of the season. I can’t help but feel we are cutting our nose off to spite the face with this one. We’ve just helped them get stronger.

If the ITK is correct let em have Toby. It will make finishing above them even sweeter next season.

We have circa 150m to spend! That is NOT reliant on sales!
Our net spend we want to be very favourable by close of window!!!...(n)(n)(n):):):banghead:

There does seem to be a lot of confusion about this post by Herc. I just don't understand why.

1. We have circa 150m to spend! That is NOT reliant on sales! Translated: We want to spend £150m irrespective of what we receive from sales.

2. Our net spend we want to be very favourable by close of window!!!...(n)(n)(n):):):banghead: Translated: We want to spend money received from player sales in addition to the original £150m.

However, we have already received ITK that we will now only be trying to buy players that are on our list. So if our targets unavailable we won't be buying A.N.Other just to make up the numbers.

Would doubters prefer we do what Arse did with Sanchez and let TAs contract run down two years and get nothing? He's not even a guaranteed starter next season. If MP wants four at the back who drops out to give him a place? Sanchez was bought for the next four/five years so it's not going to be him. Vertonghen? Don't see that either. Or we go with three at the back just to fit him in the starting XI?

Selling him for the right price now makes sense. And if there's only one potential buyer, that's where the player's going to go. You can't just magic up a PSG/Barcelona/Madrid bid from nowhere because you don't like the idea of him playing somewhere else in the PL.

Gards could just be really into Dylan right now.
Or he is watching, Watchmen!
But on a more serious note, I think that if what he said alludes to something big that’s awesome news. Could be about keeping all the lads. Could be how we are bending UTD over the barrel for Toby. Could be a statement signing that will make even Stan Collymoor piss in his little frilly panties!!!

Would it be a ridiculous question to ask whether Toby and Dembele would definitively pass medicals with clubs ? Multiple snippets of ITK alongside some more general media have alluded to long standing issues and questions over their ability to play to full capacity going forward.

I remember when we sold Sandro to QPR, JJ said that we were lucky to get the price that we did for him given his medical situation.

Arsenal got Mkhitaryan in return for Sanchez

That's how I read it as well. Not sure it's a great idea to make fans and other clubs think we're spending more on players than we actually are though.

Well, by letting them think we are spending more than we are, they may think that we have less money in the kitty to buy other players. Fits in with the typical DL MO!

Disagree with this interpretation.

Player sales will likely be in the range of £125M-150M - there is no chance we are spending £250-300M this summer...

Hercules has previously stated that our net spend, this window, will be in the range £30m-£50m.

Jesus. There is some serious oestrogen in here tonight.

I can’t quite understand how seasoned spurs fans and spurs community members are losing their shit so quickly.

We are going to lose our sources again if you lot don’t just STFU and enjoy the ride.

Don't blame those people losing their shit this early. This is a continuation of we had been through the last few windows. Really appreciate all the ITKs sharing, but until we see a 50m player holding our shirt, the moans will still continue, which IMO, is justified.
